i have a 2010 se cc 4x4 with the c2ook rear end. after 1000 miles or so i started hearing a fast paced clunking or knocking that started at 20 mph and got slower as the truck slowed. the dealer first said i had a rock stuck in the rear brakes, they said they removed it and noise was gone. it wasnt. dealer then replaced the rear drive shaft and noise was still there. finaly they took the diff cover off and found metel in the diff and replaced the entire rear axle. noise is gone. i followed the break-in procedure to a t. i got a lemon axle i guess. it is a great truck now. except for the brakes. my dads altima brakes squeeked but quit after a while. so im hoping mine quit. also, before the drive shaft was replaced, when taking off from a stop it felt a clunk like my drivers seat was loose. after the new drive shaft was installed the clunk was gone.
i traded a 2008 trd v6 4x4 tacoma for the frontier. the frontier is alot smoother and alot more solid. the tacoma tried to take off across the parking lot at lowes by its self, scared the sh.t out of me. took it to the dealer and they said it wasnt on the recall and could not find anything wrong with it.
