Has anyone added a rear sway bar to 4wd yet? I don't drive off road and was thinking a sway bar would give me a little more control on the street.

If so, where did you buy it?

honestly, i took mine off and didn't notice a different in the ride quality. the front will make a big difference, but theres not much weight in the rear of the truck for a rear swaybar to make a difference unless you are towing or hauling a significant amount of weight.

Thanks for the replies. I've been doing research and decided not to put one on my truck. I've found a few people that said it didn't fit because of the brackets welded on the rear axle.

I am curious how the factory one mounts though.

heres a pic from after my solid axle conversion where i was spring over axle for about a month. the angle of the bar is obviously off, because we didn't bother extending the links.
at least you have an idea of where the factory bar mounts.

i've got a hellwig on a 4 cyl xe and it made a significant improvement stability in corners at higher speeds. being that's how i like to drive and it's how i use my truck, it was a great addition for me

but i'm not sure a higher riding off roader would see a benefit like that. it'd probably be more of a hinderance

Rear sway bar

I have an 04 Desert Runner and originally bought an aftermarket rear bar and couldn't stand it. I went to the local dealer and bought the Nissan part for an Xterra. Came with the links included and bolts on with no modification whatsoever. The handling difference is astounding. With the bigger aftermarket sway bars my truck felt like it was pushing into curves, with the factory part it makes you feel like your driving a sports car. I kid you not. With a set of Monroe Reflex shocks and the rear sway bar installed it feels as stable as any car you have driven. Oh yeah, I think I paid less than $130.00 for everything and it took about thirty minutes to install.

Do you know the part # or how to tell the dealer what to order? I'm going to replace my rear springs and I'd really like to add this anti-sway bar.
