Has anybody ever fit a different size speaker into the rear door? I would like to improve the sound quality in my truck. The factory size is a 4" but I put some 5 1/4's in which is the same size as the front door. I am not happy with the sound quality or the bass produced by this small of a speaker. Oval speakers generally produce better sound. Since I am already considering replacing the rear speakers I am thinking about going with a 4x6 or a 6x9.

I will pop the door panel off again this weekend to see what will fit just thought I would get some thoughts on this before I proceed.

what brand speakers are you running? What are the specs on the speakers? Are they amped?


also oval speakers do not sound better. a good 6in will sound much better then any 6x9.

This is what I have. I pulled them out of my old truck.

I was just planning on going for something higher end. The Speakers are not amped and I do not plan on adding an amp at this point. The HU is an Alpine CDA-105

The truck came with Infinity Kappa Series speakers in all 4 doors but I soon noticed problems with the rear speakers.
