Rattling Noise @ 3K RPM

Hi there. My 2008 Frontier 4wd makes a horrible rattling/vibration sound at 3000 + RPM (Just about everytime I jump on it to get on the freeway or pass somebody). I had my mechanic take a quick look while it was up on the rack getting tires rotated/oil change and he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Still a warranty item. I just wanted to check here first so I could present the dealer with some possible sources of the sound. Perhaps it's the skid plates vibrating at a certain harmonic range? Just hoping it's nothing serious. Please help.

I'm hearing something similar, but haven't sourced it yet. The sound has me thinking it may be the fan clipping the shroud a little. Just occuring when the engine is under load and torquing slightly in the motor mounts. I need to investigate further after the winter thaw. Possibly the shroud is loose or a motor mount is going on me.

heat shield?

Had a similar metallic rattling sound under accelleration on my hardbody. Turned out to be a small pebble that had worked its way between a heat shield and the muffler.
That's simular to what mine was doing and it turns out to be the fan shroud. Once my radiator busted loose and broke several spot welds. I just drilled em out and bolted it. (check lower fan shroud)
Thanks fellas. I'll take the truck to the dealer for the next oil change and have them check the fan shroud. Keep the thread alive if anyone has more info.
Did you get your rattle problem solved?
I Just found that both my header heat shields were dangling in my engine bay. All of the bolts that hold them to the header's are broke off in header. Do you guys think I can just pull these out without any ill effects to any wires etc?
What he said. I was going to suggest also looking at heat shields and manifolds for loose/missing bolts, cracks, etc. My brother's 1st gen X had this problem and showed up as a weird rattle at mid-rpms. If you can re-drill and tap the holes to get the dead bolts out, I would reinstall the heat shields. Not sure how necessary they are, but I would guess they were put on for a reason.

great, gonna have to check that, I've got one rattle at ~1900rpm and a different one at ~3000+ irritating the crap out of me. already discovered that several heat shield clamps under the truck were toast but none of them fixed the problem.
