Nice setup....thought about getting a battery or remote detector but they were alittle too pricey for me now. I had this one (Beltronic 945), just a pain getting the wire down to the fuse box. Around here, they're speedtrap crazy and you got to have one! Heard good things about the Solo 2, appreciate it if you would let us know how it works and how you attached it.

kbirdsong,
Clean install! I have the same mount in my 350Z but I cannot remember where I ordered the mount. Could you please let me know where you bought the mount?

Thanks
Major

The mount was out of my first 350Z, i had two, a coupe and a roadster. Sold the coupe and kept the roadster. The mount i ordered from a guy on one of the Z forums, his email is [email protected] i think it was 20 bucks. A great solid mount. The Solo2 i think is a great detecter. Saved me a couple of times.

Another option would be the Sr7 w/Zr3 shifters, its completly remote, so theres really no way to tell you have a detector in your car, plus anytime you get hit by laser, it shifts it, and sends back a false reading, def very cool,. and so far its kept me ticket free! ( knocking on wood ) On the other side of things, ive noticed that alot of cops are just driving around with out their radar on, and of course theres no way to protect against that yet, so Im still very careful when I drive.

where can i find a how-to on hard wiring a detector into the truck?

oh yea and... Valentine 1

you just need to buy one of the hardwire cables for the V1 and then route it along your interior trim down behind the dash and find a wire that turns on and off with the ignition (could splice into one on the back of the stereo) and that's it.

perhaps splicing into the cigarette lighter would be better. you wouldnt have to worry about it when you change out the stereo. just make sure it is not the cigarette lighter that is always "hot." it is the bottom one in the 2nd Gens.

I had my v1 plugged into the top 12v outlet and my phone in the lower one and when i turned my rig off the phone charger kept going, the v1 went off.
would that mean that the lower 12v is always hot and the upper turns off?

i am planning on doing a hardwire today and tomorrow on my rig.
I need to make sure to tap into the right spot. i think the 12v might be continuously hot when the engine is off. This morning my battery was dead and the only thing i could identify as a problem was i left my V1 plugged in...
I noticed that my cell phone continues to charge after the car has been turned off too...

Will that 350Z mount work with any radar detector? I like how that looks. Will it work on an 04 Frontier? Thanks.

I had a Solo2. I got 3 tickets. I sold it and haven't had one since then. I liked it a lot, but for some reason it didn't seem to really help at all. I almost thought by having it, helped the radar zone in on my vehicle. May seem strange. Could be that you get too relaxed having it, and don't pay as much attention as you would when you don't have one. If I were to get one for free, I would use it again. but for 300 bucks to end up getting tickets it wasn't worth it.

So I am gathering that the best bet to harwire a radar detector is wire the radar to the top lighter and leave your lower lighter for the phone right?

I am getting a Frotier next month and bought the Beltronics harwire kit from Crutchfield. This mod shouldn't be too hard right?
