Hey guys I know it's late notice but any of you guys in Orange County want to head out with me for a quick little 2wd run. I was thinking of going tomorrow or sunday just out to trabuco canyon or corona or something. Or anywhere else you guys suggest.

Well went to trabuco canyon today with my friend. had a lot of fun and got it a little dirty.

Question for you guys. Do you have any tips for how you guys clean your trucks after a lot of mud. Whats the best method for safely cleaning all the mud off my engine and stuff. Can I just go at it with the hose? I know I need to cover up my intake and probably HID ballasts. How do you guys do it?

Some pics of my truck when i got home

This is what i need to know how to clean safely.

Looks like fun.

As far as cleaning goes I usually get out the simple green. Spray some on, and let it sit for a few minutes to work in, then spray with the hose. Get a soft brush/cloth for the hard stuff.

And covering your intake is always good, although I doubt you'd have a problem. Not sure about the HID ballasts (because I don't have them :( ) but that sounds like a good idea, too.

when i worked detailing cars we sprayed down every cars engine bay with simple green, let it sit, and power washed it off. never once had a problem and its the same way i have cleaned the engine bays of every vehicle i have owned since. your ballasts are supposed to be weather proof but i'd say it would be wise to not test that. other than that just throw a towel on the filter so any splashes dont soak the filter.
