OK, my 2012 Frontier S 4 dr came used with no manual and one square plastic head (chipped maybe?), one round head plastic (again chipped) and one plain old flat chromed (looks like it where the chrome wore through) brass key that would be impossible to chip.

If the plain key unlocks everything and starts the truck reliably (which it does) what's the point in chipping (if they are) the others? Is this a secure start feature failure?

And what's the difference in the round and square plastic head keys?

Looking forward to your input and thanks. MW

Wait a second. I have a 2017 KC S model (no power locks or electric windows) and this is the key. It's a chipped key, isn't it? How can I verify if it is or isn't?

Finally took my key to a local locksmith yesterday and had them check it and it's NOT a chipped key, so I'll be going in today with my better key and have a few spares made.
