Question on behalf of many

Why is it when someone asks a question some replies are to do a search or google it? I was under the impression this was a discussion forum. Many times if you google a question you will find a link for this forum. So obviously you don't need to be a member to view any info. Plus replies like that turn newbees off from asking questions. If you don't want to answer the question, fine don't, just stay silent.

I believe they may be trying to help as there may be threads here that have much information on the topic you're looking for info.
Starting a new thread may not yield the answers you need.

Simple answer is people ( a few ) are just jerks, but many here are more than happy to be helpful. But you are right completely, if you don't know the answer, or are to lazy or frustrated to give the same answer out again (that they have many times before), they should just keep quiet, but not all people have good manners.

Unfortunately I have been the recipient of this a few times. The search here is sometimes difficult to use. Unless you word it correctly you'll not find what your looking for. Plus it's just more enjoyable to actually be able to discuss things with others. Makes it more personable and not so automated.

Thanks for the reply guys. Hopefully others will see this and be more helpful, stay silent or (for the newbees) ask more questions.

Have a great day all.

Not to defend either side, but I have had TONS of luck doing a Google search and adding ",club frontier" to it instead of searching from within the forum. Many times it will pull up from other forums as well.

With that said, internet forums are all similar and get loads of the same simple question over and over, so.... YMMV.

Part of it also bleeds over from social media such as FakeBook where the exact same questions are asked at least 1,000 times a day. No one wants to do their own research anymore on anything. While I deeply enjoy the forum chat and exchange but the atmosphere on all forums has changed.

I run a few kayak fishing facebook pages and it does get taxing seeing people ask the same question a million times in a day or even the same week. It turns some people off and they leave or quit following the group as much.

That said, someone may see your post (who didn't see the question asked in the past) who can provide an answer more detailed than the previous answers. The same could go for a post about a subject that has already bee addressed in the past. This is why the search function is nice. You may find more answers to questions you haven't thought of by searching the forum, or google.

But yes, some people are just jerks and get annoyed with people even though at some point most of us are "question askers" lol

Do a search. Your question has been asked before.
