Has anyone out there tried installing an aftermarket Push Button Engine Start on a late model frontier. I was thinking about doing this but wanted to see if anyone has tried it and what their opinion on it was.

I cannot help you, but I for one do not want one. I am going to be out of luck once they are standard on all models. I may just be old, which I am, but this new fad does not ring my bell.

Keys have always worked and I don't believe in fixing something that "ain't broke".

a lot of guys did it on 350z using components from newer altimas or maximas, one of the two so it can be done easy enough with a little time but i personally don't see the point in putting one in my truck

no. my friends mom has a Suzuki and the key can be in your pocket. All you have to do is turn the "tumbler" forward as if there was a key in it. You have to be within the vicinity of the vehicle obviously. So i can see how a push start would be beneficial. Get in, sit down, push button, drive.

edit: im sure there is a way to rig the frontier in a similar fashion.

Yeah if it could be wired with this option of not having to use a key at all like the Maxima, Corvette, etc. it would be great but still having to use a key for power it would be pointless. The push button in the cars they come in serve many purposes like if you're forced from the vehicle and have the key in you pocket they are not going to get very far before the car dies.

I was going to do it awhile back just for the point of hiding the button so when someone gets my key the truck still wouldn't start.

If your gonna have a push button start, might as well throw in a toggle switch to turn on power and one to turn on fuel.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but ya'll do know that when you turn the key, it simply pushes a button to activate the ignition circuit right? push button start just eliminates the extra parts of the key, lock cylinder and tumblers. simplification is better imo. it may seem like the car would be "easier" to steal but it's not really. yes you just need the right radio signal sent to the car but that's basically all anyone needs now for transponder keys. also keep in mind that although the battery for the door locks may go dead, the transponder is on a seperate battery so the remote would still work. and they do have a physical key that comes out so you can still get into the car in a worst case scenario

but thats a smart key system that came in the vehicle. getting a programmed smart key and installing the full system would be much more PITA then its worth and money. there are much better and more useful things to spend your money on than that. my .02

My Mazda6 Grand Touring has the push button start , and wish it was in my truck. I am so lazy I dont want to get my keys outta my pocket. If you push the brake then button it starts. If you just push the button it goes to AC.

I personally think that if you could get a push start ignition, at a reasonable price not 4somethin, in a complete kit it would sell like a mofo. But only if it could be fit into the existing key hole. I think it would look pretty ricey to have a push start button in one place while the original ignition was still there. :)

I have it in my Altima too, great feature. You don't need a key to open the door, trunk or to start the car, just the transponder in your pocket. Would love to have it in my truck if it would have been an factory option but I don't see any point to an aftermarket setup.
