My powertrain warranty is just about up and I only have 1 oem filter left so I looked at my options and have decided to switch over to the PureONE PL14610. Along with the PO, I also checked out Wix and Napa Gold but those are a little hard to find locally or require a special trip.

Now for the people running the PO filter, where are you finding the best deal on them? My local Advanced Auto Parts (AAP) has them for 6.50 a piece but I was hoping someone knew of a cheaper place to get them? I am not looking for a lot but I would really like to get it down to 6 bucks each or less if possible.

I already looked online for rebates but all that I found are out of date. I have also considered the oil change deals AAP offers but it is cheaper to buy the M1 at Walmart and the filter at AAP then to get the AAP deal, lol. I have also considered the non-M1 deals (standard dino or blend) with the PO and just use the oil in my mower/generator/pressurewasher/etc... but that only gets me 1 filter and I would like to have a few on hand so I don't have to run to the store when I need an oil change. Basically I want to be prepared so that if I have to make a 5k trip, I can change it the night before and not have to worry about finding a 24hr auto parts store.

Any tips or tricks from fellow owners would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, does anyone know the price from Kmart off the top of their head? or sears?

Thats exactly what I did when I was using the purone filter. Went to advance got a few of them, and walmart is right next door to aap up here, so walked over and got the oil there.

Based on the number of microns it filters. I don't know if there is a better filter for the money. I do the same PO filter from Advanced and Mobil 1 at Walmart! My Walmart has it for 21.88 for a 5 quart jug! Can't beat that!

M1 would be good for 5,000 mi trip anytime, even if already 5k on it.

I have the same set-up basically. Both are just down the street from the other.

21.88, that is highway robbery, we have it for 21 flat, lol. I will probably buy 2 for the Frontier with an extra qt and another 2 for the Avenger and an extra qt. Always best to stock up when the oil is cheap.

Lets not go down this path unless you have oil tests to back up your statements. I drive the truck hard and fast so 5k is my safe limit. Past that scares me even thou it is a syn.

Amazon.com has the best price on a two pack with free shipping. Look over there!
I checked Amazon and the single filter was like 12 plus s/h and the twin pack was 69.99 (wtf) plus shipping. Do you have a link to the ones you saw?

I've been running a PureOne filter in all my cars for years. It really is the best filter for the money. I liked them better when they were blue though.

Why are you guys worrying over a few cents difference in price? Its a small price to pay to keep your truck running good. It's not like 50 cents will make you break the bank every couple months..at least I hope not!:itsfriday:

I agree, if you are working 50 cents is nothing but when you are unemployed and have a house payment, 50 cents starts to add up when you are looking to buy a set of 10 (its 5 bucks plus tax, lol).

I just hate spending more then I have to when I know I will be buying it again in 5k miles. Why not stock up now when it is cheap so I don't have to pay extra later plus the gas and time and etc.... This is the same reason why I buy M1 in bulk, usually enough for 2 changes at a time for both my truck and the fiancees Avenger R/T.

Just giving this a bump. I found something interesting. Apparently Advanced Auto Parts is running an online special for $5 each. I am currently debating between 6 and 10 filters. Will probably try and go 10 since I plan to keep the truck forever and the VK uses the same filter.

Get 10 to make your total 50 dollars then enter code "A123" for 20 bucks off.

It's not a bad filter, but for those of you who don't know, the PureOne 14610 filters 99.9% @ 40 microns... Not 20 microns like most other size PureOnes.

For 3.15 a filter after tax you can't beat it either way.

they also have a promo code to take 10 bucks off any 30$ or more order. that means if i get 6 of them, i just knocked the price to 20 bucks...SWEET!!!!!

edit...if you spend 75, it knocks off 30, if you spend 150, it knocks off 50....may end up really stockpiling some things lol

promo codes...

So, I just put an order in for 6 (all they had at my local) and used VISA with took it from 30 to 20 and then 21.20 after tax for a whopping 3.54 a filter which is cheaper then OEM. I may end up picking up another 6 this weekend if I have a trip going past another AAP.

Thanks for the promo codes guys.

Here is a warranty type question. If you do your own oil changes they want you to keep receipts of the stuff you buy so you can "prove" when you did each change, if necessary. If you buy in bulk how do you do that?

well...with my motorcycle, i just keep a chart with indicated mileage and date of "service." any time i do something, it gets noted. hell...there is one part where my mileage went from 19,800 to 10,700. talk about a cool service lol. replaced the gauge cluster.

as far as the service, i still have to buy the oil, so i will just show the receipt from buying all the filters, and then when i buy the oil each time, i will just use that receipt. and say that i used one of the filters i have stockpiled
