Purchase Custom CAI

2284 Views 10 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  5speed_Frontier
Would anybody be interested in selling me a custom CAI for a 2007 Frontier 4 banger? I understand from some threads I have read that a few members of the forum have endeavored to make their own.

Thanks

Dude its not too hard to do man. Its just a matter of getting all the parts. Where you located. I might be able to help you. Here is a link to the main forum discussing the custom CAIs on our 4 bangers. And on one of my threads there I even posted a pdf of directions for making it. Also a few others posted their similar directions before me.

Here is a link to my thread with my headers and intake as well. And a pic of my intake.

Thanks, yeah it doesn't look like it would be all that hard. I am a 'project' type of guy buy I can only have so much on my plate at once.... and sometimes I just want to drop the cash to pay someone else to do the project. lol

I live in Michigan BTW...

I looked up that MAF sensor required on EBAY and the only one up when I looked the guy was asking like $450.00 or something for it. I asked him if he meant $45.00 and he get a little prissy and informed me that he did INDEED mean 450.00.

Ah well, guess I will keep looking.

Right on brotha.. thanks for the help. I will post again when I move forward with the project and most likely pics when its complete.
cool stuff. yah nobody else put on a heatshield on this setup though. i ran it without the heatshield for a few weeks. then i found one at a local tuner shop from their displays and i got the manager to give it to me for $5. It was a score. I customized it a lot hahahah. to fit though. like grinding, and drilling, and bending etc.
Rise from the grave old thread...

I finally got all the parts needed to do the project and I will most likely dig into it this weekend. I think the hardest part will be extending the wires, though it could be bending the bracket that I bought from home depot to support the thing.

Im kinda pumped. After this I may look at the headers, though those might be a bit outta my price range. :)

Question 5speed_Frontier, did you ever check to see what kind of HP boost your got after the CAI and then after the heat shield? I would think it might be a tad more than the typical gains because of the ridiculous setup of the stock intake, specifically how damn long and how many turns it take just to get to the engine.
I was never able to check the hp gains from my intake at all. I know it works great, but on our little engines its probably not more than 3-4 hp. I think a lot of my torque and HP gains are from my Doug Thorley header. I know that gains about 8hp. Here is the dyno from that header on our 2.5.
