Hey all!

Good community here, I've picked around a bit looking at common issues with the Frontier and it seems like a solid pick. I'm hoping you all can help narrow me in on one. Here's what I'm thinking:

2013+ Frontier SV 4x4, Crew Cab, short bed. I'm looking 2013+ specifically due to the bluetooth audio connection, backup camera, spreay in bed liner, etc... that comes with the Truck Value Package.

Question: There's a couple nice 2011-2012 Pro-4X's around, but they have the older audio system, with only bluetooth phone (not audio streaming). Can anyone tell me if I bought a 2013+ radio system with the LCD screen, could I easily plug and play it into a slightly older Frontier with the simpler bluetooth system?

I know it's a convenience feature, but most every other feature I want is covered, and the more modern tech I've gotten used to in my current vehicle; don't want to lose it, though I'd be psyched to grab a year or two older Pro-4x and swap in a radio.

Any other tips out here while looking for a new-to-me would be great.

Thanks!

Welcome to CF. Of course I'm biased with a 4X but the 13 SV 4x4 packages are nice additions, and I'm sure you'll get your share of opinions. If cost is an issue can do a comparison of having to upgrade the older truck vs. buying a newer one. Also, not sure if the luxury/sunroof/roof rack are things you considered, as well as mileage, getting it certified, etc.

To me, better to have it and not need it vs. not having and needing it. It comes down on your needs/wants/have to haves, intended use: daily driver, off-roading, towing, etc.

I'm not sure on stereo backward compatibility, but I did look into swapping out for a dual climate control as the 13's came with then, but the harness/plugs didn't match on my 12. No big deal, but my wife likes her dual climate in our Honda, though I tell her its false comfort. Good luck in your search.

With the tremendous assortment of aftermarket radios available nowadays - many of which are superior to anything Nissan installs - There's really no reason to limit yourself to whatever radio the factory happened to be slapping in their trucks in any particular model year.

Example of an excellent aftermarket radio (with Bluetooth, WiFi, support for a backup camera AND a dash recorder camera, capability to run just about every Android app on the planet, etc., etc., etc....) HERE and HERE.

Fwiw, all SV V6 w/ 6-sp manuals include VTP items as standard equipment.
