I just bought a 2017 SV 4x4, and was wondering what the differences were between the Pro-4X and the standard 4x4.
I will be 70 years old in July and I will not be going off road, I got the 4x4 for ice and snow, so what I have is good enough.

Congrats! I also just bought a '17 SV 4X4.

The Pro-4X has different wheels/tires, Bilstein shocks, a rear locker and skid plates. I'm sure there are plenty of other minor differences too, but I think those are the big ones.

The roofrack used to be available on other models but going forward it is only available on the Pro-4X package.

And you forgot STICKERS!!!! Lots of stickers!!!! (Hood, doors, bed)

Bed extender, tow hitch, and running boards are NOT standard at my dealer. I had to pay extra for all these things. You either got a good deal or I got a bad deal...

I got heated seats, factory bed liner, utilitrac system, bed extender for the utilitrac, standard fog lights, standard tow hitch, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear view camera, on my sv, (SV Value Truck Package)
(Splash Guards (4-piece set)), but would have liked the locking differential, but don't really need it.

Some of these items are options, not standard equipment on the Pro-4x. Some are available on the SV too. For instance, my SV VTP came with heated seats, factory sprayed in bed liner, utilitrac system, bed extender fog lights, tow hitch, leather wrapped steering wheel, and rear view camera.

I'm not sure what you mean by "standard at my dealer." This is from Nissan's 2017 brochure:

Includes SV V6 equipment plus: Bilstein® off-road performance shocks, electronic locking
rear differential, clutch start/cancel (manual transmission only), skid plates, 16" 6-spoke
aluminum-alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, automatic on/off headlights and fog lights,
Utili-track® Channel System, factory-applied spray-on bedliner, satin chrome grille, bodycolor
rear bumper and outside mirrors, PRO-4X bedside decal, NissanConnectSM with
Navigation and Mobile Apps,14 5.8" color touch-screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition
for navigation and audio,15 SiriusXM® Traffic and Travel Link,®10 RearView Monitor,16 Rear
Sonar System,17 Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC), PRO-4X embroidered
cloth seat trim, 8-way manual driver’s seat, heated front seats, white-faced gauges,
leather-wrapped steering wheel

Crew Cab adds: 6-speed manual transmission, available 5-speed automatic
transmission, four full-size doors with seating for five, Rockford Fosgate®-powered
audio system with ten speakers

KEY AVAILABLE PACKAGE:
PRO-4X Luxury Package (Crew Cab with automatic transmission only)

PRO-4X® LUXURY PACKAGE
Available on PRO-4X Crew Cab with Automatic Transmission Only
• PRO-4X embroidered leather-appointed seats
• White contrast interior stitching
• 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat
• 4-way power adjustable front-passenger’s seat
• Heated outside mirrors
• Rear fold-down center armrest
• Power sliding glass moonroof
• Roof rack with crossbars

Everything included in the PRO-4X LUXURY PACKAGE is optional, not standard equipment. Additionally, many items listed in the first paragraph are not standard equipment on the SV, but available in the Value Truck Package. The SV Value Truck Package includes

• RearView Monitor5 and Rear Sonar System6
• Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)
• Six speakers (King Cab only)
• Auto-dimming rearview mirror, digital compass, and outside
temperature display
• Factory-applied spray-on bedliner
• Utili-track® Channel System with 4 tie-down cleats7
• Fog lights
• Vehicle Security System
• Heated front seats and carpeted floor mats
• Sliding bed extender
• Tow hitch receiver, Class IV8
• Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob

Btw, the SV Value Truck Package equipment is STANDARD on manual transmission CC 4X4 SV's.

If you compare a fully loaded SV CC with Value Truck Package to a fully loaded Pro-4x CC with Luxury Package, here are the differences, according to Nissan:

Bilstein® off-road performance shocks
electronic locking rear differential
skid plates
16" 6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with all-terrain tires
automatic on/off headlights and fog lights
satin chrome grille
bodycolor rear bumper and outside mirrors
Heated outside mirrors
PRO-4X bedside decal
NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps
5.8" color touch-screen display
PRO-4X embroidered leather-appointed seats

well I mean MY dealer put this on all Pro4X or order them like this, either way I have never seen a P4X with anything less at my dealers

different dealers can add to a package if they so choose, but mine does every time at least as far as I have seen, been going to them for almost a little more than 17 years and I am on my 11th vehicle with them and have never seen anything different

At the end of the day, all you're missing from SV-VTP vs. Pro4X is 8-way adjustable seat (driver) and the Offroad goodies (locker, skids, aggressive tires) and the factory NAV... if you need nav, either a smartphone or a Garmin/TomTom are a better option. biggest thing i lament is the adjustable seat.

Too bad "your" dealer didn't order or show you an SV with VTP as it gets a huge list of extras something like 2K extra...

Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)
Six speakers (King Cab® only)
Auto-dimming rearview mirror, digital compass, and outside temperature display
Factory-applied spray-on bedliner
Utili-track® Channel System with 4 tie-down cleats
Fog lights
Vehicle Security System
Heated front seats, carpeted floor mats, and in-cabin microfilter
Sliding bed extender
Tow hitch receiver, Class IV5

The problem with that was the only four-wheel-drive they had in stock was the one that I bought I didn't want to order

Other than P4X

I think in some southern states, 4WD models are hard to come by, maybe? I was looking at Nissan's inventory in LA (for another forum member last week) and nearly every Frontier within a couple hundred miles was 2WD. It kind of blew my mind because it's exactly the opposite here in Utah.

"My" dealer had a 6 speed manual. It came with all the Value Truck Package options, but i didn't have to pay extra! The SV CC V6 4WD MT has the Value Truck Package options included in the base MSRP, which is a few hundred dollars more than the Auto without SV VTP. I had to have a stick - so the "free" VTP was a huge bonus. I couldn't be happier : )

It is indeed strange how the options change depending on key items like 6-Speed and/or 6-foot bed... For me my primary want was 4x4 crew cab with long bed... With the long bed there is no option for a 6-speed and while I was not interested in the plain jane SV I also didn't want to spend my way up into the SL line so the VTP got me the laundry list of thoughtful items then to find one with the moonroof was a true boone...

I am a technology specialist/network administrator at a K-12 school district with a computer science degree. I retired from Halliburton in 1999, went back to college to get that degree, but i'm still behind compared to the young folks that grew up with all the technology,
Thank you.

I also drag raced, mostly motorcycles, until I was in my 60s
