Im considering getting the spindle package from PRG for 1300.

PRG Products

Can I get some opinions on these components, mainly the 3 inch block and 2 inch shackle. Ive heard blocks cause axle wrap and shackles cause leaf springs to flatten, but for 70 bucks, I can get the 2 inch deaver pack instead of the 3 inch block. Ive heard this is prob the best combo for the rear, but I heard the deaver leaf pack is a pain to install.

Also, not sure if I want the 2 inch spacer because of coil bucket contact, but I dont do much offroading and someone on the forums mentioned they could sell me quicklift struts for 150. Should I ask greg to sell me this package without the spacers to reduce cost and wait to pick up the quicklift struts instead?

Im probably gonna order tomorrow so I wanna make sure if Im spending over a grand on suspension that its something I will regret.

Discuss your needs with Greg, and he will give you an honest opinion.

The leaf pack is not a pain to install (then again I didn't install mine...spectator) - look at it this way - if you want to install a spacer or the leaf pack, you'll have to undo the ubolts either way so you're doing about the same amount of work. (I've got the leaf pack and a spacer in the rear...and radflo/cst spindles up front) If you're really worried about the axle wrap - maybe you have a heavy foot - then maybe the full leaf pack is something you might consider...again ask Greg.

If you're worried about the coil bucket contact...install bump stops on the upper control arm...I have a sticky out there back when my username was "frontpagenews." The bump stops are a $15 solution.

Thanks, its not that im worried about axle wrap, I dont even know what it is or how its caused. Its just from reading posts, it seems everyone points out the negative items of each thing and scares people like me who dont know enough about it.

Sounds like I can install the spacers and the bumpstop and be perfectly fine, but wouldnt the bumpstop cause contact more often since it would reduce the space.

Get a custom made leaf pack. Most company charged between $500 to $700.

If and when there is contact, I'd rather have rubber impact the coil bucket than a hard stamped steel edge from the upper control arm smashing into the bucket. Less exposed metal to become rusted and fail while I'm driving down the road. The amount of contact you'll feel will depend on how thick of a bumpstop you install.

Axle wrap is the result of torque trying to spin the axle housing... Instead of your leaf springs being a U shape, all the torque will make the leaf springs more of a ~ shape. Warp them far enough, and you'll lose traction...the leaf springs snap back into the U shape, and you get wheel hop...good way to break things. Easy solution = less smashing of the skinny pedal. Or you can get traction bars.

For the rear the deavers would probably be the best suitable upgrade in lieu of the rear blocks, but if you really want to make your rear suspension a lot better without goign with the long-term damage of blocks and shackles, bastardise your leaf pack with an Xterra leaf pack if you can find a decent pair at your local auto wreckers, someone did a writeup on it not too long ago

i've been thinking about getting the same lift, already have the 2" spacer in the front and 1.5" blocks in the back. there is some contact with the coil bucket but not that big a deal, as far as the rear goes, you may want to also consider what you haul or tow. the custom leaf packs, as wall as the aal's or any other cobination of shackles blocks or whatever my have an affect on your payload capacity, from what i've read it almost always makes your payload capacity go down. just something to think about.

good thing im not worried about payload either! i havent towed anything yet, and ive had a 1/2 ton of sand in there once but I dont think I will need to worry about payload. I think im just gonna get the deavers and shackle for the rear, seems to be the best result.
