Okay folks it is time for another group buy poll. The folks at Richmond Gear are saying that a Powertrax locker for the C200K is being evaluated and if we do nothing there might be one available in the next 6-9 months.
But they've also indicated that a single order for 50 pieces could expedite the process. If there was a distributor that was interested in this market they could make the purchase and become the "sole provider" of the Powertrax for the C200K. Apparently there is a $200 estimate fee that an interested party could pay to have them evaluate the application and create an estimate. From there the interested party would need to place an initial order of at least 50 units.
These units usually sell for about $350, but for an order of 50 units the amortization of one time charges may be higher and these could be more expensive then if we waited. So basically the option is to wait until their product comes to market and pay retail, or pool some resources and get the product sooner rather then later, but possibly pay a premium for the parts.
I'm not sure that we could get 50 people to commit to this, but it's worth a shot. I'd definitely buy one today if it was available.
