Who has replaced their second gen power steering pump yet?

I believe my pump is failing at 60k miles because:
Constant whine when steering wheel is turned
No power assist at low speeds and when first starting
- The tires literally are "unturnable" without truck momentum

My truck has had 31's for 17k, then 33's for 28k, then 35's for 15k. That is definitely creating some extra stress for the system but i want to be sure its not rack and pinion or tie rod related.

What has everyone done for replacements and upgrades?

Just one question, did you ever put ATF in the power steering system?

Yeah, its new to me. But today for sure it was acting up while turning; like it was coming and going. Fluid level is perfect with some Lucas Power Steering treatment added. No visible signs of wear or fluid loss

i know for a fact the titan pump mounts and fits perfectly to your rack and motor.

you should check the specs on the titan, it should be a stronger pump and problem solved.
If that is indeed a fact i will order one out and see how it goes. I do not have access to a Titan or a dealer. For the next month i am working in the mountains but can get some stuff shipped in.

i kept my fronty rack and using the pump on the vk, the high pressure line and return mounted up perfect, and i have no problem moving my 35s.
I bet those 2 extra cylinders help too dick! but really is it a pretty easy swap? I have limited tools out here. Could it be the Steering gear down below sticking or blockages? How about adapting the titan version of that to fit my fronty?

lol they do. i have stopped driving it again though. to finish all my odds and ends and clean a lot of stuff up.

but i think the banjo bolt was a 19mm or a 20mm. just throw a drain pan under and take out what you can, then pull it off. pretty simple and strait forward.

does it get better as you drive like it seems to work better as it warms up?
-if so its the rack

if it requires momentum to turn and time spent driving doesnt seem to effect it
-then its the pump

and yes i know this from expierience b/c i tore up a pump after about 40k (mud is not your friend) and a new pump+labor cost me just under $400
