There is no kit and I have only heard on 1 member doing this but they did not use the keyfob. They were a KC and installed a CC window switch and used the extra 2 switches for a rear window motor and then another for the tailgate. I am going to say that it is possible to use the keyfob and just wire the solenoid to trigger when you unlock the truck and vise versa but I am not sure what was used and what will be needed. It may be worth your time digging up that thread and checking it out.
i did this following gordynismo's write-up years ago (the second link). its awesome. mine unlocks with the second press of the unlock on the factory keyfob. parts cost just dollars. i recommend it whole-heartedly. make sure to put a quick-disconnect on the wires near the tailgate in case you ever need to remove it!

Parts List: Total Cost Approximately $40

(1) Door Lock Actuator Kit -
(2) Bosch Relays
10 AMP fuse and Fuse Holder
Crimp Connectors
30 FT – Black ¼” Wire Loom
30 FT – Dual Lead Black and Red Wire (at least 18 GA)
(2) Grommets (3/4” OD and ½” ID)
Wire Ties"

ok so i i get most if it but what are the details on the first 2 things i dont know anything about reays so wat size are they? and where can i get the actuator kit and what size? thanks

ahhhhhhh been trying to look for this thread for a long time! time to do this mod :D
Agreed. Very good mod. Even if you don't have a cap on your truck. Good deterent. Harder to take a dirtbike out of the truck if the tailgate doesn't open. In my case anyhow. And im sure others could think of more things it would save too.
hell it could save your tailgate, we had a string of people stealing tailgates off trucks around where i live a while back and most of them were tailgates without locks and the ones with locks were probably unlocked. this way if your trucks lock you know your tailgate is too
I did this mod over 4 yrs ago and so far haven't had any problems. Something Nissan should of thought of but it's been great not having to lock and unlock the tailgate with a key.

Remote Tailgate Lock

EDIT: Something got screwed up with the thread, there use to be pictures of the install. I still have some, if you're interested.

Thanks for the one pic that is left. That's the one I needed to see for my 98. I plan on making my own based off that pic. I have a tri-fold tonneau so with the tail gate locked it should make what's in the bed semi secure as long as they don't cut the cover. And not having my tail gate stolen is also a bonus.

This mod sat for 3 years before I finished!:crikey:
Ran the wires back then when I installed my hitch. I followed the Titan forum's Titan power tailgate method of not using any relays and set it up to trigger with the passenger doors (see PwrLocks.jpg my additions in blue).
Finally finished the install last night.
I chose to install the actuator so it pulled parallel to the axis of movement. But I got a little lucky in that I did not pay close enough attention to which parts move and which don't. I was real close the plastic tab and the metal edge of the lock itself (check last picture).
Works great!

is there a mod that we can replicate the titan's slow open tailgate? cause the tailgate is too heavy
Just reading this thread because I want to do this mod on my 2010 Crew Cab. I've got a bakflip cover on it and the tailgate's the only time I use the key to get in anywhere. This will make it alot easier. To answer your question, fierari, I've got a Dee Zee EZ down on mine and it works great.

Thanks Wayfarer! i have been looking for a tailgate damper solution!! and i'm wanting to do the power lock mod for the tailgate as well.. i just got my BAKFLIP HD installed so, like you, i wanna get it operated from my key fob! just have to find the time to do it! or find someone who can do it for me!
thats a sweet mod i'll have to do this one esp since on my aftermarket alarm all the doors lock/unlock at once so my tailgate can now be included
