Potential New Frontier Owner

Hello. I'm Tim, i live near the Pittsburgh area in PA. I currently have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR sitting in the garage that i am contemplating ditching for a 4wd Frontier. I've recently been bored with the Evo as i dont drive it during winter and thinking of trying out a new project. I'm not looking into a brand new Frontier since it will have to sit outside year round. It probably wouldnt fit into my small garage. Im generally looking for something between 2005 and 2008. I am sifting through the plethora of information here and it has all been helpful so far. Is there any model year that would be better to focus in on? I have no interest in major off roading like rock crawling or such. I just want something that i can put some semi beefy tires on, little lift and go have fun in snow/mud/trails. What model would be best for me as a base knowing a little bit of what i want to do (SE,LE,Nismo/Pro4x)? The truck would also be a DD. Thanks!

the nismo/pro4x have larger stock tires, better shocks, skid plates, and a diff lock. If you are going to get all new suspension stuff, it may be better to get a different model unless, the skids and locker are worth it. The locker only work in 4lo unless you modify it, and it sound like your not a rock crawler type. There are alot of lift options. PRG products sells a range of stuff. There is a ton to read about. Read the stickies, they have alot of good info in them.
I'd go with the SE trim line if you are going to leave it outside a lot and want to have fun with it on trails.
I'd suggest set a price point, and get the best bang for your buck. 2005 was the 1st year for the 2nd generation Frontier, some say it has more kinks in it, but I don't know for sure, I have an 08.

LE is the luxury version, leather, sun roof, roof rack, etc.
The Nismo and PRO-X are the same trim level, just PRO X replaced the Nismo in 09 or 2010. More the off road version.
