Hey guys got my readylift goin in this week and was looking for some new more aggressive tires to replace the stockers.

Has anyone kept the stock 18s from the sl when they put on new tires? Pics would be awesome if so, can't seem to find any

Ill be watching this thread. Im gonna be lifting my truck next month and I have the stock 18" sport package wheels
I've been poking around quite a bit and apparently the stock 18s aren't very popular...I'm thinking about changing out the wheels but I'd really like to see the possibilities with these 18s
Subscribed. I have the SL rims with the readylift kit and am installing a 2" body lift sometime this week. I will be looking for new tires soon and would love to see some on the stock 18" wheels.

I'm anxious to see this as well. I really like the Sport 18s but would like a little bit bigger, more aggressive tire.
I asked this a while back and was told the stock 18 inch RMS are not wide enough to support a larger more aggressive tire

Are the 18s narrower?

Um...why? The Nissan Frontier 18" wheels are a 18x7.5. They are wider than both the 17" OEM wheels and the 16" OEM wheels found on the SV models and Nismo/Pro-4X.
I have the Sport Appearance package with the 18" wheels and I am leaning towards 275/65/18 Toyo Open Country AT 2's in load range C. Hopefully they will fill up the fenders good and not rub with the 2" PRG lift I am getting.

Like stated above, the stock wheels are 7.5" wide so there should be no problem going with slightly taller/wider tires. I would still love to see some pics of bigger tires on the 18's .

Just to clarify my comments in that thread... 285/75/16 is technically not a recommended size for a 7" wide rim. But tons of members run that combination without any problems. Likewise, 285/60/18 and 285/65/18 are not technically recommended for 7.5" wide rims. Nobody in that thread made the claim that you *can't* run that size tire on a 7.5" rim (except for you when you said "I read on this forum that a stock SL 18" rim will not support a 285/60R18 because it is to wide" - where is the thread where you found THAT information?).
Whoa all I was doing is giving some prior info that was discussed I damn sure not telling him what to do. You might as well have all the info before making a purchase and if this prior thread helps great if not ignore it. You guys get jumpy on these forums like I'm testing your man hood
 The only person here who is being "jumpy" is you. I'm not really sure what I said to elicit that type of response. I agree that the person asking the question should have all the available info before making a decision. You stated that you were told that the stock rims were too narrow, and when asked where you were told that, you linked a thread where I made comments that you may have inferred that way. So I was trying to clarify those comments. You also didn't really answer the question because you made the same statement in the thread you linked. The stock rims might not be too narrow; I said in the other thread that I didn't know. Simmer down, it's just the interwebs. Sorry if I've somehow offended you.

Huh? Who's jumpy? She was merely clarifying what she said.
Hmmm. They recommend 8-10" wide rims for 285/60/18 and 285/65/18, and the rims on your truck are 7.5" wide. A lot of people run 285/75/16 on a rim that is 0.5" narrower than recommended. But I don't want to give you bad information...the aspect ratios are obviously different, and I don't know whether that makes any difference or not as far as whether it's a good idea to mount the tire on a narrow rim.
the exact quote from your link in which JeniorNV responds to your question. seems you took her "im not sure, but this is what ive heard, you should probably do some independant research" sort of response to be the gospel truth and didnt go any further. assuming that what she meant was...fukk no dont do that **** youre stupid for mounting a 285 on a stock 18....

woops...was that jumpy?
Well from the lack of information and confirmation of anyone running bigger tires on the stock 18s I'm a bit weary of even trying it. I guess I'll be looking for new wheels
Mattyd123,

Did you get new wheels??? I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing you were doing, the readylift with slightly larger tires and keeping the stock 18s. I think it's possible, but this is not my area of expertise... I was thinking about doing a 275/65R18. Tire calculators put that at 32.1" dia and it says it can be put on a 7.5-9.5 rim. The readylift website says you can fit 32.5" dia tires with their lift.... Anybody have some input???
I would like to bring back this post to see pictures of Frontiers with the 18 inch stock SL or Sport package dark gray wheels. I recently purchased a set of the dark wheels for my Night Armor '13 SV and waiting to put them on with probably 265 65 18's and also put on 1.25" or 1.5"wheel spacers but want to keep my mud flaps on. I do have a 2" front lift and 1" rear. Thanks everyone.
I would love to see some action on this thread. I have the S/P 18s, I'm about 2 months from taking the new tire plunge. Have yet to decide, either Duratracs or Dynapro ATM. I would love to see a few pics of 275/65R18. I know I'll need to melt/trim a little but am hopeful I can retain the flaps. I swear I read somewhere that wheel spacers will greatly increase chance of rubbing.
