Phone call to Nissan USA Customer Service

Well, I finally had to make the call, the SES light came on one too many times. A couple years ago started the fixed under warranty post, hate to admit i have had my fair share of this and that to report....the last straw has been broken. Now again I have the fuel relay this that or the other on the blink....again. It has been replaced under warranty before when I was at 24,000 back in June of '07. Lo and behold it is on the blink again. Called and spoke to a rep from NISSAN USA customer service (Friday morning) and had to go through the list of what I have had to deal with since i first got the truck brand new...in no particular order
1) Fuel Relay Sending Unit
2) Drivers side door lock fail
3) Passenger side window relay unit or motor fail
4) New Rear end
5) Timing Chain Replacement
6) Driver seat fabric / falling apart
7) Some ecu part resulting in complete loss of power while driving

When the light came on I was of course over my extended warranty, but after today's call I am waiting on a call back on Monday from a Nissan regional rep or so. I thought it would be a good excercise in reporting my start of how I hope this will be fixed. Will keep all informed for what it is worth prior to starting my next step of action....might be worth tuning into Edmunds.com for a bio entitled...confessions of a 2005 Frontier owner, how to suffer the teething pains of a great truck. I really wish I had waited 2 years after 2005 before I got this truck. It seems like the first year models were released with one too many gremlins. I love to drive it every day. Will report again...

Agreed. I think some of the issues you have dealt with have been ironed out over the years, but hey someone has to be the first :)

When we bought our Matrix in 08' we got one of the last first gen's. I was on the fence about getting an 09' and I am glad I didnt. Its on the recall list...

Same with the new 4runner, granted its way too expensive to buy one now but even if it was more reasonable I would still wait. Somewhere I read that someone had to have their front diff replaced with only a few hundred miles.

I hate to say it, but I dont think you will get much of a response out of Nissan, probably a thank you and we will make note. Then your file goes into the round file...
Oh my heart would bleed for you but it's too busy bleeding for my own list IDENTICAL to yours BUT. I took mine back several times to the dealer I bought mine from and just before the warrantee was up they tolfd me that Nissan would contact me in a few mos because they are aware of this problem and will fix it. Here we are with the warrantee up, several years and over 100K miles later the light is stil on, my fuel gauge doesn't work because I haven't had the time to put my new one in,(it sits in the box), that Nissan DID replace but at regular cost because "the warrantee has expired".
Obvious enough, and I did realise it at the time, the service manager at the time was lying through his rotten teeth. But that's all right, they will never see my buisness again. This Nissan has ran GOOD over the years and I am buying Nissan again, but definately not at this dealer, I will drive hundreds of miles to get the new one and fix it myself because the "techs" will either not be "not able to duplicate" or it will be "per factory specs, sir" or "Nissan will contact you when the new parts will be issued"

Sounds like you are good to go! With all that stuff breaking you basically have a new truck. Strange how things that are supposed to work as intended for a long time fall to pieces and junk goes forever. Hope they do something for you.
Will let one and all know how this turns out. Have to say that I am looking forward to the call on Monday, it was kinda sad to have to go through the list of what I have had to deal with to the operator. Stay tuned...will follow on Monday afternoon.
Not that I can offer much more than condolences. When I bought my 06 X, I told the salesman I wanted either an 06 or an 04. I wouldn't have a first year build. We discussed my requirements and got a better deal thru nissan financial for the 06.
I was pretty hesitant to get an 05 model, but I was just too anxious to wait until I could find a good price on a used 06. Luckily not too much has gone wrong with my truck, only thing on your list I've had to deal with is the fuel sending unit.
Well I got a call from a rep today, asking me to remind her what the problem was, told her date and mileage of when the fuel relay unit was last replaced....then she told me she would call back again on Wednesday after reviewing my "file" further. Call lasted all of 30 seconds or so. Will be interesting....I always play nice to start, giving the benefit of the doubt, not so as time ticks on.
My brother was out of warranty and paid for the repair. I had him call Nissan and they credited his visa card without much discussion. I would think you'll get it free too.

Hopefully these companies are all watching Toyota and what happens when they don't listen to customer complaints. Better to appease your loyal customer base than to piss them off.

I hope Nissan doesn't learn anything from Yota....

I work for a major Japanese manufacturer here and they have people who's jobs are to cruise the internet forums and auto related web sites, check out newspapers and magazines, listen to talk radio programs and watch TV news programs. Just to see what is being said about our products and the competition.

I'm watching c-span3 right now and seeing what happens when a manufacturer blows off it's customers and it blows up in their faces.
I do have faith in Nissan as they've always done the right thing by me.

Not by me. I'm still a Nissan vehicle fan but don't put any faith in their consumer affairs policies/support.
Well here we go....after much back and forth, basically playing the waiting game I have a appointment on Friday morning to take the truck in to get the fuel relay sending unit replaced...have to be honest i am going to miss that ever so friendly SES light that meets me each morning....especially since it would cycle off after two weeks or so and then come back again...patience and persistence pays off...will let all know if I am given any grief at the dealership... they told me the backlog of vehicles was ridiculous.
Good luck to you but you will like Nissan of North America if you ever had to talk to Honda of North America. They were complete dicks about replacing a sunvisor that ended up costing $35 which was not bad but it was the principle of the matter that made me want to b!tch them out. It had been in the shop for the interior being a piece of crap 3 times and they kept cutting corners. They were gluing stuff back together!

Your truck had a recall on the door locks. Both my 2005, that was totaled out, and my 2006 have been in to have them replaced. If they refuse to have the fuel sending unit replaced you need to file a complaint as I have said before because there is no reason they can count the 06 in but not the 05. Nissan is aware of the timing chain problem but it seems as if it happens to everyone under warranty so it is likely that they will not issue a recall for it. The first year of any vehicle is always the troublemaker.
Will keep all informed... am confident it will all work out, that being said am going to push this a little further...am honestly PO'd at all I have had to do with this truck..stay tuned
