I installed some Ultravision bulbs tonight to try and better my light output. Whenever I put one in and compared it to the OEM bulb against my garage door I was disappointed. However, on the road I noticed much more light on the ground in front of the truck than the OEM bulbs and that was without my fogs on. There seemed to be a bit more light down the road as well, but the highlight for me was the better light in front of the truck and they were better at lighting up things like mailboxes in my neighborhood. Another thing I noticed was with my OEM bulbs I really couldn't see anything on the blacktop road down my street but these did a bit better. These aren't full blown retrofits obviously, but it your wanting some more light for $30 I'd recommend it.

Edit: Sorry, Xtremevision.

Best bulbs to run if your going to stick with halogen. If you have stock H11 bulbs in your fogs, replace them with the H9 bulb. 10 watts more but lots more lumens. It may require a little moding of the bulbs to fit the original H11 housing and wiring. Google it.

Nice, the Philips bulbs are a decent upgrade to help our headlamps. For future visitor reference: The Xtremevision (what you have) are brighter than Ultravision (what I have), but the Ultravision are more "cool white" than Xtremevision.

I wonder how long Xtremevision's last... I've had my Ultravisions in since Feb of 2015, which makes it just about 3 years now. A+ for reliable halogen bulbs at a reasonable price ::smile::

I've had mine in since September last year... I'll post up when they die haha. I didn't notice much of an output increase over the OEM ones.

Good conversation -- thank you both. 12 Years later I still have my original factory bulbs in service. I've read that bulbs grow dimmer throughout the years, so even though they are still "good", I'll bet I'd benefit from replacements.

I take it that these are easy to replace? It's a multi-hour nightmare project on some vehicles.

Left side is super easy, right side depends on your battery size/position. You don't have to remove the whole battery to swap the bulb out, if you're articulate enough you can get it done (I am); but if you need a little bit more room you can just loosen the battery hold down clamp and slide the battery towards the radiator.

Thank you raine and Passivaggressor. I told my wife that I'm turning in my Man Card, as everything I'm tried to repair or replace around the house lately has ended in disaster. I need to pick my work carefully. <g>
