It took me a while to find these, but I purchased them from Fontana Nissan and installed them on my '05 Frontier. Pics attached.

I wanted these because the silver matches the silver on the Pathfinder window control bezzels installed. I want to slowly incorporate more silver into the interior since the all grey interior can be kind of a bore to look at. Plus, my exterior is silver so it all kinda flows.

So I installed them. They obviouly fit perfectly. Only thing is, the buttons don't work. The only one that does anything is the Answer/Hang Up Phone button, which makes the cruise control and set lights to turn on but blink the whole time. So i'm not sure if it's a bad set of controls, or if they need to be rewired/reprogrammed?

I do have an aftermarket headunit and i know that won't work without an adapter, but I thought at least the cruise control buttons would work.

Has any tried this install before?

ya i did this mod. i followed a post from a fellow member who did a very good write-up. my layout consists of vol up/ down, track up/down, mute, and power, which was standard with the rockford/fosgate package so I am not sure about your bluetooth functions.

with ur aftermarket headunit you will need a specific "pac adaptor" based on the brand of your headunit so the buttons can learn specific functions such as volume control, mute, etc.

In addition you will have to rewire the wires on the harness and match them up to another harness underneath the steering wheel. it seems confusing when you see the writeup it will make sense. I was advised to use a volt-meter since my wiring was slightly different.

Not sure how much this matters - but your On/Off and Cancel buttons for the cruise control are in opposite locations from where they are on my truck's OEM spots.

BTW i just realized my horn doesn't work!!!

I wasn't going to re-wire everything because really the only thing i lost was cruise control functionality, and i never use cruise control. i just liked the look of the silver matching the silver on the window control bezels, but now i'm thinking i should re-wire everything now that i now i don't have a horn. It's pretty dangerous to be driving without a horn.

the horn works when i lock the doors, just not when i physically push the horn on the steering wheel.

anyone have any thoughs on wiring for the horn?

those WILL light up, you just need to find the right pin out in the harness and run an extra wire from another switch.

i would really like to do this but tracing the pins is too much of a headache.

Illuminated Pathfinder Steering Wheel Controls

Not sure if people are still on this thread but wanted to let you know this upgrade is possible. I have an 05, non-RF, KC, LE = only cruise control on my steering wheel. I installed the illuminated controls (part #25550-ZS50C) which I bought from enissanparts.com for approximately $74 + shipping and connected them to an aftermarket HU using the Axxess interface. There is a good writeup at: Adding Steering Wheel Controls to Xterra. - Second Generation Nissan Xterra Forums (2005+). It is 20+ pages and may take some time to follow. I will summarize the major points.

1) Note the location of your existing wires in your CC/SWC harness. (all years and makes and models). Depending on your existing packages you may have 3 or 6 wires already. 3 wires = cruise control. 6 wires = cruise control and stereo controls. If you have 8 wires than you already have the illuminated controls :laugh:

This is what my stock setup looked like with the horn removed.
Green wire = Horn (some said it was yellow on other makes/models)
Black = Cruise Control Ground
Red = Cruise Control Signal
To get your cruise control working you need to move the wires in your new harness to match the locations of the existing wires.

2) This is the critical step for 05-06ish models. Remove this harness and count the number of "pins" that are located in the black socket/plug/female harness. It seems that older models 05-06 only have 7 pins whereas later models seem to have 8 pins. The number of pins corresponds to the # of wires that are carrying signal from point A to B.

The new illuminated controls that you buy will have 8 wires. Picture below shows the "old" harness with 3 wires and the "new" harness with 8 wires.

So if you need to pass 8 wires through 7 pins you need to modify. If you have 8 pins than you do not need to modify your harness. Modifying the harness requires splicing/soldering two wires (grounds) together to share 1 "pin". This will allow the signal from 8 wires to go through 7 pins. This is what I had to do. The "pink" and "brown" wire were soldered together (because they were both ground wires).

If you have 8 pins you just need to "move/relocate" the wires in the harness to ensure they match up to your existing setup.

If there is more interest, I can continue the write-up but this thread has been inactive for a while.

Evidence is in the pictures
