Curious if anyone else had a similar issue. My dealer called to schedule my recall service since they finally got the part in. I dropped it off Friday at 130 and they told me it would be a 4 hour service and that I could come pick it up before eob. They kindly found me a loaner (Rogue) and I went home. 500 rolls around and I hadn't heard anything so I called. The service advisor said that he had tried calling me earlier and he was glad I called before I drove all the way back.

According to the service advisor, during the service they are instructed to watch a "plunger" (part in the transmission) and if it drops then they have to replace more parts. He said that usually they don't drop and that since mine did, it means mine was more likely to fail. I'm fairly knowledgeable with cars, and I know this is just a service advisor and not a tech, but anybody have any real clarity as to what he might be talking about?

Not a huge deal since I have a loaner, but I would like to know since my 4 hour service is turning into a 4 day one. I'll get the skinny from the service folks when I go back. Curiosity is just getting the better of me.

Man, I've got a 2020 that needs the change. I've called my local dealer 3 times starting in November 2022 and have yet to get a call back saying they have the parts.

It's been 5 months. When I call back they seem to not have any record of me calling. Getting a bit frustrated. And all the dealerships in the area are all owned by the same folks (Mossy). So it's not like I can call somewhere else.

@drivenlegend ....

Check out the attached 3 minute 15 second YouTube video...it's not for the 2022 Nissan Frontier automatic transmission in your truck, (Does anyone know what model 9 speed transmission Nissan uses in the 2022 Frontier?), but it gives you an example of what a parking pawl should look like & how it works:

I know for the 2005 thru 2019, (not sure about the 2020), model year Frontiers, Nissan used the RE5R05A transmissions. You can kinda see the parking pawl in the RE5R05A transmission between the 3:25 minute mark and the 3:45 minute mark in the YouTube video as the RE5R05A transmission is being torn down. It kinda looks like the YouTube video above...principle is the same....

Has anyone posted on YouTube yet a teardown of the NEW 2021-2022 Nissan Frontier transmission???

Yeah as another has stated check the recall thread. I know that if they drop the pawl or plunger they pretty much have to take the trans apart to get it out of there. If I remember correctly the service info even has a warning about not dropping these parts due to the amount of work that will be needed to remove them.

Search Mercedes 9G tronic on the youtoobs or whatnot. There's a bunch of servicing and trear-down videos available.
