What would yall do? I have a Nismo with chrome parts. Should I have them painted, should I buy prepainted from Nissan or should I trade with someone. I really have had a hard time finding people that want chrome so thats the hardest. And the other two are pretty expensive but that doesnt matter. Help!

There are a lot of us on this and other Frontier forums that have paid to get the chrome
parts on our trucks. It looks like you could post on some of the forums that you want
to sell or trade your parts and surely you will find some takers.

I think you would have to strip the chrome from your parts before you can paint them
so that would add a little to the cost of painting them. I found that my chrome parts do not chip as badly as the painted parts I had.

I wish you had done this before I changed out my parts. I have a painted pair of
mirrors that I would have been glad to swap with you. Of course you need to find someone with the same color truck you have.

If you don't find the same color of truck or just find the black parts get some extra
money for your chrome parts and it may be enough to pay for painting them.

You also might check with your dealer, he might do some sort of trade with you to
satsify a customer on a new truck deal.

you dont happen to know if you can paint the textured plastic thats all over this pickup do you? I would post in the sell or trade forum but most forums require a minimum post requirement. obviously its easier to trade. except the very little labor of taking the parts off and finding someone with my color truck.

If I recall correctly, OkieScot had the black plastic parts painted on his truck (to include the mud flads!). Also, I think the only model that comes with the mirros, door handles and bumpers painted to match the truck is the CC LE Model. So, you've got a small group to choose from, plus you must have a truck that had a color offered on the LE trim. I have Aztec Red, and it only was available in the SE and NISMO Trim. I would think that if you're willing to do an even trade of your chrome parts for the black plastic parts, you'd have an easy time finding a taker! Of course you have the added expense of painting them, but you'd have that if you painted the chrome ones anyway. And, I think the paint would probably adhere better to the black plastic (with proper prep) than to the chrome!

I had the some of the black plastic pieces painted on my truck and they came out looking fine. I would not ttrade even on your chrome for black pieces. There should be
people with the black pieces that would trade with you and give you money to boot.

I am sure you will have to strip the chrome pieces or at least to scuff them up. I would much prefer to paint the black than the chrome.
