Ah .. yea ..

My truck has plastic trim over these gutters.
Im not sure about the roof rack thing, but i would do something about this.
It could be as simple as takin' it to a paint shop and having the just the "gutters" sanded and spayed, or if your handy, you could do it yourself with a good can of colour match, some good prep. and lots of paper to prevent overspray.

hope this helps

My '05 LE KC did not have plastic in the grooves except at the very back in the curved section. I hate that plastic strip on either side of the top on cars and trucks and is one of the determinants as to whether I buy a vehicle or not. This one barely made it.

if you DIY you will need to chip the rest of the paint off of those plastic trim peices.

possibly good news, went to the dealership's body shop today. service tech said he'd try and push it through under warranty and that he'd get back to me by the end of the week. if all goes well I'll have a newly repainted roof when i get back from training this summer

Roof "Gutter" Paint Peel

I had almost given up hope on the search feature when I found your thread.

My 07' CC SE is experiencing nearly identical paint loss along the roof rain gutter. I had initially suspected that it was due to the install of the Thule Top Track system. After inspecting further, it appears that even with a significant load, the tracks disperse the weight along their length with no noticeable deformation of the sheet metal.

I would be interested to see how the dealership treats your claim.

Are their any others with this issue??

I have attached a few images for reference. Time to get it fixed me thinks'.

I had all the paint chip off of the plastic on my '08 SE KC and it started just like that . As far as I can tell, it was the only painted piece of plastic on my truck. Right below my head lights above my bumper. I took it to the Dealer and called Nissan, They did not care. So I cleaned her up an herculined it.

Funny, this happened to me 2 weeks ago. I was washing off some bird crap, when I get to the drivers side, I notice it ain't washing off. I run my finger across it and notice that the paint had peeled. "HOLY CARP"!.. What in the world happened here, I'm thinking. The next day I go to the dealer and plead my case, the truck is only 4yrs old and well maintained. After kicking it around, the manager says he'll do a goodwill repair. I brought it in yesterday, I had to pay for a rental, but felt it was fair enough as they were going to cover the paint after the warranty had expired. They are doing only the gutters on both sides, even though only the drivers side peeled. Way too soon to have this happen to a 4yr old truck.

It is too bad that a problem such as that, at no fault of your own, would not be made right by the factory.

That is good news to hear. I purchased the truck in February of 07' so it is only pushing 3 1/2 years. As I'm sure most of us do; I also take very good care of my vehicles. There is no reason that the paint should be flaking as it is. Off to the dealer too I guess.

Almost exactly what happened to mine, except I caught it before it really started flaking. 2008 Mind you... They repainted the gutters and put in some sort of thick crack sealer that they didn't really sand down but whatever, if it holds i'll be happy (if you can see the roof, my truck's probably on it's side and i'll have bigger things to worry about :willy_nilly:)
