Anybody have one of these and can tell me how they like it? I've come across a new customer return (supposed to have all its parts) that I could pick up for $250 and I'm wanting to know how well it works for people.

From what I've gathered, it's an aluminum sliding tonneau that's got a black leather grain to it and locks to secure cargo. I don't have a Utilitrack system on my XE, so I don't have to worry about whether it would interfere with that. I have no idea how easy it might be to take on or off or if there's any drilling required to install. It looks like it might take up a small amount of bed space for the storage area when it's retracted, but I don't think that will be a problem for me.

I've only had a couple of occasions when I've wanted to secure anything in the back of my truck, so I haven't really worried too much about getting anything like this. But this seems like a great deal and a quality product. Guess I'm just looking for some verification before I lay out money for something that isn't really a necessity for me.

Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

i would get it just because its such a sweet deal. if you were looking for a new one it would cost you at least $1000 for the cheapest roll up style tonneau cover and from what Ive seen most of them are clamp style bolting onto the side rail so generally no drilling required

My brother has one on his F150. It leaks in the corners and the seal on the tailgate end is a PITA because it falls off all the time. Other than that it looks good and seems pretty funtional. It does take up a bit of bed space though. It make it to where he was to leave the gate down when transporting his quad. The price sounds right though.

Pace Edwards and Roll-n-Lock are two different companies so I wonder which one the OP can get and which one is on the F150? I believe both come vinyl covered, I have only seen the PE uncovered (Jack Rabbit). About the same price, but the R-n-L did not use a seal that could fall off nor out of place.

How do I know? I have been using a modified R-n-L for just over four years now and worked with company reps to design mounts to work with the GenII Utli-trac equipped Frontiers.

From the OP's description it sounds like the R-n-L. No drilling is required and as posted above uses clamps. It locks to the tailgate which means both the tailgate and tonneau would need to be unlocked. Retracted or not it takes up the same space in the bed.

For me it works great, although it's not really cold or wet here and has survived my years of abuse off-road and in the air. No leaks during monsoons or micro-bursts, no jams in the snow country, but does get dusty by no fault of its own. It makes a nice place to sit when retracted and I always have a somewhere to set things while getting in/out.

It does takes longer to wash the truck and sitting on the tailgate can be uncomfortable due to the locking mechanism. Loading and unloading heavily slid items can be a challenge if your anal about scratches, but it's a truck.

I say for the price... go for it no matter which one it is.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. As each of you has said, I think for the price, I'll try and get it. Right now, the problem is getting together with the seller to take a look at it and see exactly what it is. But I just need to put a little more effort into it.

Hey, 05N1SM0, I don't quite understand your comment about how challenging loading and unloading heavy items might be. Is it challenging because of the side mounts or is it something else? Sorry, I just didn't quite get what you were talking about there.

Thanks for the feedback and if anybody else has an opinion, I'm all ears.

On the F150 It's Pace Edwards Roll-Top, not Roll-n-lock. Sorry, didn't catch that. He has the aluminum version, not the vinyl.

kcwind, because of the locking mechanism that mounts on the tailgate top leading edge it makes both sitting on the tailgate when it is open uncomfortable and sort of hard to load and unload large, heavy items if you just try and slide them. It's handy to have a large, thick cardboard box to overcome the ledge that can also double as a mat if you need to change a flat, sit/lay on hot pavement or separate finished surfaces.

Items can hang up on it since it's kind of like a ledge. Imagine sitting on an open tailgate and having a pipe under your legs, behind your knees that is attached to the top, inner edge of the tailgate. Make sense?

Some may look at it as a deal-breaker, I look at it more like added security since neither the roll-top nor the tailgate can be opened unless both are unlocked. For example the tailgate lock breaks or is popped inward, makes it harder to be stolen. I hope that all made sense...

I've know a few people with the role style covers keep in mind that your going to lose bed space with it. As the roll chamber takes up a good 6 inches in the front of the bed. That was always my reason for not linking them more. Both trucks that had them now have normal soft bed covers as you don't lose any bed spacer with them

Thanks for the more detailed explanation, 05N1SM0, it definitely helped to clear up my understanding. Right now I'm having a hard time getting together with the seller. His schedule and mine definitely don't match up.

As for losing some bed space, it looks like only about 6" and I don't think that you would lose those 6" all the way down to the bed. So I'm okay with that.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody.

With a Long-bed you don't notice it as much as a short-bed would.

No problem kcwind. Do you have the factory d-ring tie downs in your bed? If not you can tell where they mount, there are two plugs where each would be mounted. You can still access them with the R-n-L canister installed. I think the canister is more like 10 x 8 inches w/the bump guard.

I filled the space under the canister with three small crates to carry my recovery & emergency gear that is strapped in place by the d-rings which are already held in place with either my sliding bed extender or divider.
