About three weeks ago I replaced the EVAP cannister vent valve with a new Dorman. That error code cleared and hasn't come back. However, last week I got a P1446 code so I checked the wiring harness to the same sensor, cleaned the contacts with some electronic spray cleaner. I reset the truck and it stayed clear for a awhile. But it has come back twice. The Autozone print out says for "Error Codes Read" "EVAP Purge Flow Sensor Circuit High Voltage" and under their definition it says "Code P1446 indicates the PCM detected the evaporative emissions system canister vent valve remained closed under conditions during canister purge flow is indicated."
I know there is purge flow sensor up under the hood to the right of the large cover. I did quickly look at it's electrical contacts and spray them. Could it be that sensor is faulty? My Chilton's manual doesn't have an electrical schematic for this part of the emissions system. I know the EVAP cannister valve is normally open so does that mean there is +12v there normally and it gets pulled towards ground through the EVAP vent valve solenoid when being checked by the ECM? Perhaps I should go ahead and get a new flow sensor as well? I suppose I could pull the new Dorman EVAP vent purge valve out and make sure it is working on my electrical bench.
Thanks for any help
