My truck didnt come with factory tow hooks, and a bumper is a long ways away right now, so I've been shopping around for recovery points and stumbled across these https://p-p-engineering.myshopify.com/collections/frontier-gen-ii/products/2nd-gen-2005-nissan-xterra-frontier-front-bolt-on-recovery-points

They look solid, use the same mount points as factory, and look like they would work with a Hefty rad skid. Has anyone even heard of these guys, and if so any feedback on quality? If they're decent I might end up buying a skid from them as well so i don't get doubled dinged on shipping.

do those work with the stock bumper? they don't seem to be low enough to clear the plastic with a rope connected.

If they're not I can have spacers made easy enough. I just don't have access to real shop equipment to make something beefy like that. And if it really comes down to it, the plastic on my bumper cover is already mangled. I wouldn't be opposed to making it worse if it's the difference between staying in the woods overnight and getting out.

I've heard of these guys they look like they make some pretty nice stuff although I tend to skip over the companies that don't have Canada in the drop down list for online ordering. Dezert Runner offroad makes them and you can get these off ebay to if you search for D40 Navara's.

I just shot an email to P&P, let's see if they reply.
I just got a response. Apparently the hooks should clear the factory bumper.

I've seen the Navara ones but they're almost double the price. I'm also close enough to the border that I can have them drop shipped to a depot and bring em across myself.

Got the same respon

se... and placed an order ::grin::

Now to shop for some shackles
Apparently theres a flag on the play. I just got a pm from a well regarded member here who says there's been all kinds of customer service issues with these guys. There's a bunch of threads on the NewX saying that while the workmanship is excellent, their customer service is severely lacking. I was about to pull the trigger, but I think I'm gonna hold off until I hear back from you to see if they've gotten better.

Hopefully your experience is better, but let us know how it goes either way!

We'll see... I never reached PRG the 98402830420983402 times I tried, yet if I placed an order I had the parts in 5 days. LOL

Fair enough. My biggest hang up is having them drop shipped. I'm close to the border, but still far enough away I'd have to make a day of it. If their communication isn't great theres a chance I'll miss the shipment due to work or something.

I am one that has had a bad experience with P&P. However, I've noticed the bad experiences mostly involve larger, custom pieces, like my bumper. Small items like these are produced in mass quantities, so they should be on hand. Recently, it seems like P&P has been working on improving their service, I hope they don't prove me wrong.

I've got the P&P recovery points, took a little massaging with an angle grinder to get them to fit with their rad skid (which took a lot of grinder massaging) and an my ARB bumper. Such is the way of mods.

I was gonna order a pair but in the checkout process only shipping option that appears is "Pickup". I'm guessing they don't ship to Hawaii?

I had the same problem trying to ship to a depot in WA. When I emailed them I was told that it was set up and should be working. No work arounds were mentioned, and they seemed unwilling to do the leg work and get me a manual quote. I couldn't get a straight answer on which courier they use either.

Last October. FWIW my little issue fitting these had to do with how the ARB bumper has a boxed recess around the mounting points on the bottom of the frame, the base of the recovery points was just slightly too wide to fit in there along with the radiator skid.

Update; delivery ETA middle of next week

That's not bad at all. I think your faith has restored mine. I'll probably fire off an order on payday. Hopefully having a skid built too won't completely tank their build times. I'm missing out on some quality mud right now.

FYI small update, the goods arrived last Wednesday (about a week total) but I was busy working on my shock brackets so i haven't installed the P&P parts yet.

I did hold them up in position to see what's going on, they look like they'll bolt on no problem with the factory bumper but the center of the recovery points are offset towards the outside of the truck. In other words, they aren't centered with the opening for the factory tow hook. Since I want to keep my lower valance, I'm going to have to do some trimming when it's actually time to install.
