Alright, about 3 weeks ago I got some new pro comp extreme AT's. I was on the freeway about a week ago and noticed shaking at around 55 to 60 mph. I felt it in my butt and not in the wheel. I could let go of the wheel and it was straight as an arrow but my visor was slapping my forhead(JK). I got home looked under my truck and my right rear tire has more weights on it that a fishing tackle box!(7 of them) It's rediculous! I have a half silver wheel now. Anyway I took it back to the shop and they rebalanced all 4 and sent me off. 2 days ago I was back on the freeway and the same crap at the same speed was happening. So back I go today for a replacement on the rear passenger because I think it's out of round. Only problem is the shop said if that doesn't fix it then I have to pay for the new tire!
I'm pretty sure it has to be the tire because you can here the tires on the road and instead of a smooth humm it goes.....humm humm humm and the faster you go the faster the unmooth humm sound goes. Has anyone had experience with this?

I still think its them not balancing it correctly. I say get the new tire. If it does not fix it, just say that it did and go somewhere else to get it balanced.

I would think that the quality control would catch things like this, but I guess we are all human.

Get a new tire and then go somewhere else if need be.

If they're having to put that much weight on it then somethings wrong. I'd have them rotate the tire on the rim, might just be a heavy spot in the tire, maybe they didn't get it to bead up all the way, or might be a flat spot in the rim. I'd say it's probably one of the back tires(if it is a tire) if you're not feeling it in the steering wheel. Try this website, it'll kinda tell you what the different problems are andc give you an idea how they feel. Diagnosing Tire Problems

I don't think an out of round tire will make an alternating hum noise. A broken belt might, or if the tires bead isn't set all the way. Otherwise you might have other problems, It really shouldn't take THAT much weight to balance one of these tires though, I'd figure 4/4.5 gram max on a bad one, have them use sticky weights, they can put more in one spot(side by side, don't stack them) instead of it starting to curve around your rim. If they can get your static around 18 or less you should be good, if you still feel it after that then it's probably something else...I wouldn't tell them though so you don't have to pay, go somewhere else to get it fixed :D

well I got the new tire and it took 8.25 ounces to balance! That's over half a pound! Same thing is happening at 55-60mph. I have an appointment to have someone else do it tommorrow. Not a very good first impression with these balancing wise. Awesome look and handling but not worth the trade off. If the other place says it's the tires I'm going to ask for a refund and just go back to BFG's
