Just pulled these out of my '11 Pro-4X. 44K miles. Sooooo, they were installed wrong?

Most people find that from the factory. Even from before they moved the assembly plant. I have a feeling the guy that loads the hopper for the system that installs these has always put the bales in the machine upside down and no one has ever checked his work because it is a royal pain to take out and replace these things!

Same here. My 2010 was installed upside down from the factory. Not 100% sure that it really matters much though???

Ah well, new ones are right.

I just checked mine, black as smoke. I don't really think these have a top/bottom side. Thinking of going washable K&Ns.

Think the mix-up is because common for arrow to go up when assembling about anything - 'this side up'. However arrow on air filter indicates air flow direction - which is down.

Yep, the arrow is for the air flow down .
Now if Nissan can keep the mice out of there ...
that would help.

Yes, they were upside down. Still managed to keep that trash out of you face though.

Consider yourself lucky, many of us didn't even have the cabin filters installed from the factory.
