I have had kenwood H/U in all my cars, and I never had a problem. I recently went with a jensen piece in my truck and I am having alot of problems with it, and am planning putting the the KDC-X890 kenwood in my truck. The one that you showed is a real good piece, and would definitely a improvement over stock.

dd kenwood

My wife has a Kenwood DD Tape/Cd in her old 4runner. It is quite a H/U. Personally, I like the sounds from it better than my Alpine (See post "Apline is Good"). The eq can be configured to a great detail. So much of a detail, it can sound as bad as it can sound good. I highly recommend it. Lots of power. Mp3s sound great. Neat colors, strong radio.

I have always used Kenwood and will continue to do so. I have had three of their HU and never had any problem. All had way more feature then I needed too. I was looking at the HU a month or so ago and it was not released yet. Is it now???

BTW Jensen is garbage. I own a Marine Supply Store and we sold Jensen in the past and a lot came back and they would not cover their warrantys either. Then they went bankrupt and were bought out 2 years ago by Audiovox and they wouldn't stand behind their warrantys either. I would stay away from both of them.

I was just looking at that HU too. It's available at Crutchfield.com, but the next models up aren't yet. The 501 and 701 look especially cool because they have a USB port on the front. I think you can probably hook up an iPod through it. If you buy it, please do a write-up with pics for us.

I am a big fan of Clarion and Nacamichi (spelling?)
I have had no problems with either.
Make sure you get at least two sets of preamp outputs if you plan on hooking up amps.

To be honest, HUs are VERY difficult to suggest as EVERYONE has a brand or type that they think is the best.

Just like ALL brands, there are the loyal followers who will swear theirs are the best and everything else is sub-par.

My suggestion is to go to your local stereo install shops(plural - so visit a few) and look at ALL the HU's. Play around with them, as what ALL the functions are and how they differ from each model, and from each brand. If you can, come up with a list of options that you want in a stere such as an equalizer, or aux inputs, future intalls, etc.

Me personally, I want to get this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GAdNf2...0&id=morephotos&a=&s=0&cc=01&g=300#morephotos

It has ALL the options I'm looking for: Small touch activated screen; sirius satellite ready, multi-colored display that randomly chages color(1,728), Dedicated subwoofer controls, and the MOST important part is that it reads SD cards! Those little storage cards that Digi Cameras use. No more carrying CDs loaded with MP3s or an Ipod that I have to connect. I can now have 1 GB of music in a disc that is about 1" x 1"

I have had an Alpine deck before, never had any problems, but this little JVC unit caught my eye...

So, bottom line, while asking for advice is good to get a "feel" for what people like, it really all depends on what model you think looks good in your car, you like, and that it has all the options you want...

Well I got mine today. I must say this fit perfectly with the factory brackets and the harness the ebay seller provided. Sounds great with the rest of my Kenwood front, rear and tweeters I put in the truck. I connected my GPS/XM unit into the inut and it sounds like a CD quality. I ordered the iPod interface too so we will see how it is with that as well. Overall I am very very pleased with this.

I didn' get the H/U yet. Been debating over system or tonneau. Can you post some pics to see what it looks like? Good to see your liking the unit. Post up how the iPod connection works out. One of the reasons I'm looking at Kenwood is I heard their interface is one of the fastest.
