Oil temperature sensor

My '19 Pro-4X just threw a P0196 which is an anomoly in the oil temp sensor (not what it expects given the coolant and air temps).

I just finished a weekend overlanding trip with some mild off roading, but today it came on about half way through a 10 minute drive before the engine really even warmed up.

I am guessing the sensor is bad, I will most likely just get a new one and change it in my driveway, just wondering what's involved in changing it, the sensor seems to be near the oil filter so I am guessing the oil needs to be drained in order to remove it? Has anyone done this before - I only found 1 other post and the guy just took it to the dealership.
I'm not seeing that the Frontier even has one, the 2016 FSM doesn't list it and I've never seen anything that looked like one, in all the time I've been crawling around underneath my engine. There is an oil pressure switch / sensor in the front of the engine. You sure this isn't referencing something else? The oil temp LED in the dash is the transmission, not the engine.
