So I am trying to redo the RTV gasket on my 06 frontier and I cant seem to figure out how to get the oil pan down. I have removed all the bolts and the original RTV seal is broken so the pan is separated from the block, but I just can seem to get enough clearance to get the pan completely out. I have also removed the cross member that blocks the back of the pan. Do I have to removed the steering section at the front of the pan to get it out? I need help with this one guys as I would like to have the truck up and running by tomorrow.

This may not be of much use to you but thought I'd offer it anyway...

The Factory Service Manual doesn't call out having to remove a crossmember or steering section to get it out. But I've never tried it myself.

For comparison I took a look at mine and it looks like there's plenty of room to drop it and slide it forward to clear the rear crossmember (but I have a 4.0L) .

If you don't have the FSM, you get get it here:

Oil Pan removal is covered in the em.pdf file (Engine Mechanical).

Hope you can get it figured out.

Umm.. didn't think they made a 2007 D22...
Not in America or Europe I don't think. But we get a lot of Pacific Asian market cars here (Taiwan market and so on.) and they still make it over there. So you could have gotten a brand new first gen and a second gen.

I have looked through a bunch of the first gen KA in the FSM and they all seem similar. So I guess I just choose the latest first gen on and if it doesn't look right then check out another one.

im only 8 years late to this post but it may help someone else. i had tackled both changing my timing chain and the oil pan yesterday and today....or should we say oil pain....long story short and hardly any real help online for the 2.5 frontier (2005)...i figuered out that the engine needs to be slightly raised in order for the pan to clear that damn power steering rack.i ended up just taking off 2 bolts on the passenger side motor mount behind the shock...gently jacked up the trans which raised it just enough the pan came out.....took me all day wiggling, twisting, turning and inspecting every possibility thinking it should just drop out easily but nope....i read some people even grinded and sawed and welded things back...all this just for 1/2 inch of nonclearance. crazy.
