I am getting ready for my first oil change. I am using OEM because my dealer says warranty-blah blah blah. Anyway my original filter has the number 15208-FOD. I looked around and found most people are using 15208-9E000 and that is what my dealer says they use. I ordered 3 filters and crush washers from Factory Nissan Parts. I ordered part # 15208-9E000. When they arrived I got one 15208-9E000 and two 15208-65FOC. They( Factory Nissan Parts) tell me they are the same filter:thatswck:. WTF . Why is there so many different part #'s for the same filter? Anyone know?

If I had to guess, I'd say that one is a little shorter than the other? Nissan made two filters of the same diameter, but one is a bit longer...

Nissan redesigned the filters a little bit. They are the same. The longer of the two is used for the 4.0 V6 and the shorter one is used on the 2.5 4 cylinder. I am a tech for nissan and I asked the same question when I noticed it. Also, the redesigned filters have lubrication on the O rings and the old filters did not. The newer filters are exactly the same as the old ones with the exception of the lubricated O ring and the different part #.

i had the same issue. i was told the longer filter would fit my 08 xe no problem. complete bs. the parts person, who doesnt know the first thing about nissans told me, "you can use the longer one, all the techs do". so i figure, what the hell, why not if theres no problem. turns out its too long and there is no chance in hell im takin the sawsall or grinder to my new truck. i had to run to napa and get a k&n. next time ill just get the short one and save myself the headache. these are the same ppl that told me there is noo way i could swap my 92 dash for a 94 in my hb. they have never heard of that. HA! it took me an hour. then they said there is noo way a new, electronic speed sensor would work in my truck because mine originally had the cable. pfft, 4ft of wire and a few connections and whaddaya know, i have a working speedometer. i guess my point is, the dealerships only know what vehicle specific parts will fit the specific vehicle so never take what they say as the definitive answer.
