I need some help. As you can tell from my sig pic, I did a 180 with slammed minis to raised 4x4s.

-What are the intervals for tire sizes (height-wise) that I should start looking at for
wheelin (i.e. what is the shortest and tallest tires I should be looking at)?
-What are some good websites and companies that make sick looking wheels that can
be used daily and also offroading?

I just seen a website selling 20+ inch off-road wheels. I would think that these wouldn't make good off-road wheels because they may ding easily on the trails?:?:

Or can there be a possible 20+ inch wheel/tire off-road combination?

HAHAHA!! I sound so brand-new, but I am. Please help!

20 inch wheel are fine for off-roading. As a matter of fact a lot of people use 20 inch rims on their trucks. Although I wouldn't really recommend it. But it looks nice when properly fitted.

Yes, very tall and very expensive. Foe off road use, a tire needs a lot of flex. Large wheels with lower profile tires just don't have enough rubber between the wheel and the rocks. Taller tires that give the necessary amount of rubber cost well over $300 each.

Look at other trucks to see what they run. Even the big Chevies and Fords will run 16 or 18 inch wheels and then put 33 to 38 inch tall tires.

Besides the PRG leveling kit, not really. According to the local 4 wheel parts store, some are due shortly. Good ones, they claim.

i dont care waht anyone says, 20's are not for offroading. i personally would never put moer than a 16 offroad. you need tire. you need the smaller rim for the bigger tires. yes the 20's and 22's on 37's and a big lift LOOK very good, but they are for show, they wernt ment to take off the pavement. and why spend 3000$ on rims and tires to tear them up. any real offroading and your going to ding those fancy bling rims.

and depending what kind of offroading your doing is depending the size of tire. around here my friends and i run anywhere from 30-32 inch tires, and we get around just fine for the stuff we do. we arnt hard core rock crawling or anything, but going out playing in the mud, a few climbs. its fun.

the best thing to do, is find the lift you want for your truck. figure out the biggest tire you could fit on with some trimming, and go one or 2 sizes smaller. you do that because if you put the biggest tire you can on yoru going to be rubbing like crazy offroad. now once you have your tires on, go wheelin! have fun, find out what your truck can do. if it cant do it, and want to do it, you better find something to do to your truck to make it do it.

bascially any tire will work for offroading, it just all depends on what you put your truck threw that depends what tire you need.

Nice!!! Thanks for the breakdown. Just what I needed. The offroadin' I plan on doing is just like you were saying. Nothing hardcore, and nothing that I would feel I can severely damage a $25+ investment. . .

If anyone else would like to drop some knowledge on me, feel free. I'm learning a lot from this post alone.

Hmmm, just gotta get the truck now . . .

i totally feel you for not wanting to damage it, but wanting to wheel it. im the same way, only i got 10gran less than you lol. best thing i would say to do. is a small lift, and 33's at biggest. 32's would be great. great set up for some easy offroading, but your going to have a blast.

i got 2 vids for you. the first one is sorta lame, not a lot of mud, but the second one is pretty good. shows you bascially what stocks trucks can do and you can get an idea of what your looking forward too. unfortunatley i dont have the 2nd one uploaded online yet, ill do it tonight before i go to bed ill have it for you tomorrow, but heres the first one.

the 4runner is on 31x10.5 stock lift, the yota is on 32x11.5 stock lift, the s10 is on 31x9.5 with a raised back end.

tomorrow the video has my frontier on 30x9.5 and the topless yota(the red one you just saw but after it was rolled LOL) on 32x11.5

Frontin, that video was pretty awesome. Like I said on another post, the closest I've done to offroading was driving a 2 1/2 ton military truck (M-35) and a mil-spec HMMWV through some empty land here in Oklahoma (and they have a lot of empty land).

Can't wait for the other one. . .

The 05 and up frontiers tires are about 32'. The stock tires are not great but will do. If you start wheeling alot get some M/T tires. The frist thing I do is find someone to go with that has been and have some fun,

The only offroading tires I know of are Nitto TerraGrapplers and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO(I've heard the most about these). Any other suggestions?? What do you guys rank as your top tires?

Damn, I'm just throwing questions out like crazy!!!

Personal preference is BFGoodrich. I mean they've only won all Baja 1000's right plus I like they're thread pattern and they haven't failed me yet. But the nittos are good aswell only i'm pretty biased.

id try to do a 32x10.5x15 or 16 R

the second video is a little harder offroading, its got a lot of climbs and stuff not just running thru a little mud.

my fav tires so far are wild country mud terrains. they are cheap and last and work awesome!

the tires on the yota pick up, the 4runner, and my nissan are all the wild country mud terrains.

mickey thompson, toyo, BGF all have great offroad tires too. nitto tires are to over priced lol

A personal preferance for me is the Pro Comp Mud Terrains or All Terrains. They cost about $50 less a tire than BFG's and have a good rubber compound. They may not last as long as BFG's because the rubber is a little softer for better off roading. One of the drawbacks to these tires is that they may be a little loud for an everyday driver!

outlnder - Those are some AWESOME looking tires, but yah, forget that price.

StormNISMO - Thanks for your suggestion.

This truck, if I ever finally get one, will be my daily driver, so I need a good balance between tire longevity, and on and off-road performance. All the big name ones you all named so far (BFG, Nitto, Toyo) all seem like they would be right up my alley.

After looking at tires sizes, I need ya'lls help. Can you guys teach me how to read tire sizes? Why are some listed as P225, and others start with LT, and others just the number itself, and others show the actual size (i.e. 30x9.5)? Also, Is there a graph/spreadsheet type deal that will tell me how tall the tire is when they don't specifically list it as 30x9.5??
