What does everything about these lifts? I realize that calmini are just like all the rest right now and still are waiting on the 5" lift for release. I was really more curious about the new coils that 4x4 has released and how you feel about the ride after install.

Also, people's opinion on shackles vs blocks in the rear?

Any ideas on when prerunner is coming out with new a-arms?

Thanks.

Re: Now that the new lifts from Calmini and 4x4parts is out.

i am interested in the coils and shackles from AC. from what i have read on their forum, the coils are about 2 - 2.5" inches longer than stock. they are stiffer so the ride would change a bit but is more supportive for an aftermarket bumper. my concerns with them are that i would not be able to install them myself as a spring compressor is needed (installation fees would cost as much as the kit itself). also, there are no shocks that i know of yet that would replace the stock front shocks. the coils would extend the stock shocks so that there is less expansion of the shock resulting in less articualtion. a longer shock would be able to articulate more.

as for the quesion of shackles or blocks, i would think it would be preference as they both have ups and downs.

I would take the shackles over the blocks. With the blocks you would also need traction bars.

I know at the Autozone's here in OK, you can borrow spring compressors from them. You just have to put a deposit down (usually the price of the item you're borrowing), and then they'll give you the money back when you return it.

We were actually slamming a friend's Colorado when using these, so I don't know if they'll be good enough to be used on larger springs. They are the manual type that you have to ratchet down.

I'm probably gonna get the 4x4 parts lift over Calmini.
I have a VW and Audi that both have H&R sport and race spring on Bilstein shocks. Along with upgraded sway bars, these two cars drive like they are on rails, almost as good as a coilover kit. Everytime I drive a truck, it feels like a boat to me with all the swaying and rocking, you just can't corner well in these. The stock Frontier isn't bad compared to other trucks I've been in, but its really soft compared to my cars. Thats why I'm thinking with the stiffer coil springs and the add a leaf, it will stiffen it up to be more bearable. Granted it will be my Fiancee's truck, but she too says she'd have to get used to the soft suspension after driving mine for the past few years.
