I know there is a lot of post as far as exhaust and cats go but I can not find what I need to know. so here is what I got

All my cats are gutted and my check engine light stays on because of it, and on top of that the exhaust just sounds so bad. I live in South Carolina so we don't have emissions here. I was wonder what the best route to go is. Direct fit cats around here are 300 dollars a piece. I would like my exhaust to sound decent and my code to go off. any help would be much appreciated. Please give opinions in full detail. Thanks guys!

You may not have inspections but I'd venture to say you are federally mandated to have cats on the truck. I'm sure there would be a substantial penalty if there were roadside inspections.
