Considering an upgrade and does anyone know the ride characteristics between these two shocks? It would be for a 2000 XE 4x4 CC.

Nismo shocks are made by Bilstein.

Bilstein confirms the valving is different than the NISMO-spec'd version. So, I'm trying to determine what that means in real world driving...

I have the Nismo shocks and am happy with them. The ride quality and control is much better than stock.

Not too jarring off-road?

I agree the stock suspension wallows to the moon on the road, but actually feels pretty good when doing light off-road. I'm concerned that going with stiffer shocks will be too much for me off-road. That's why I was wanting to know the ride differences between the NISMOs vs. Bilstein HDs and probably go with whichever one was more compliant.
