the stock skids are definitely a one and done if hit hard enough. they will still offer protection for those light lay downs on rocks or scraping. i only installed a t-case skid and engine cover skid on my SE 4x4. mine already came with the front skid. i'm waiting for a company to fab some 3/16" steel armor for the whole underside.

find them here http://www.courtesyparts.com/frontier/D40_exterior.html

shipping, for me in california, is $96 if you buy the t-case, engine cover and fuel tank skids. you will probably be better off ordering from your parts counter than online. they should even match prices.

questions...does the nismo come with all 4 skids? (front, engine, t-case, and fuel tank)
does anyone know of a company making rear diff skids? i thought i saw some but i dont remember where?

My Nismo is fully plated (stock) !

I googled for skidplates and it seems that Shrockworks (shrockworks.com) has some in development for the Xterra, which means the frontiers plates will be shortly after. Unfortunatly its seems like the X is always first. Also found Skid Row Automotive(skidplates.com) They have the plates for the frontier in develoment as well. I know Calmini has the rear diff skid for the 00-04 models. I'm sure these other companies will develop one for the diff too.
These fab companies gotta get on the ball!!

Skid Plates at Dealership

I put the NISMO skid plates on my SE CC to offer the one & done protection as I don't do any hard-core offroading but so spend some time on woods roads. I ordered my skid plates from the dealership where I got my truck and paid no shipping at all. They were essentially the exact same price as Courtsey Parts but without the shipping. Just ask the dealership to look up the skid plate part numbers from a NISMO and order them for you. Dead simple but don't forget the bolts as well. Best of luck!!

Is there a big demand for offroad armor parts for Frontiers? I have time/resources to make couple beefy prototypes. What seems to be the more vulnerable parts to protect, besides rocker panels (ShrockWorks make some awesome ones already.)?
As soon as more lifts come out, I would say there will be! I'm waiting for some beefier aftermarket plates. The one I'm most concerned about is the rear diff, which is not a stock item. Other than that the main ones would be the front end, engine, transfer case and fuel tank.

What concerns you about rear axle. Is the Dana 44 cover standard or Nissan-specific? If it's generic size, then any D44 diff cover will fit. Blue Torch Fab($$), Crane($$), Warn($), etc.

I am looking for pictures of Dana 44 under Frontier to see if Nth degree mobility Slider will fit, cause that would very cool. It smoothes out the bottom of the diff, without reducing ground clearance and protects the driveline pinion u-joint.

I think my biggest concern is getting the rear diff hooked on something. That slider looks pretty good!! I think that one might work with some minor modifications.I posted pics of the rear diff of my truck on your other thread, dennis.

Nth degree slider will not work, due to different center chunk ribbing on the Nissan version.

If it hooks, just drag it, it's cast and very strong, i would only get a diff cover.
what about skids like these? http://www.cardomain.com/ride/608653

i'd live to see someone fab a set like these. i'd be willing to purchase a pair or help you make it.

Skids

Man this site is awesome.
I've been looking for a full set of skids since I banged up the factory skids the first time I went out wheeling. I've emailed a couple of Co.'s and most the same as 4x4parts
"Thank you for your interest in our products. The remainder of the skids are in the works and should be available shortly. As soon as they are ready we will post them on the web page for sale".

I was going to order a full set after I get my lift and tires put on. I haven't called them yet but their website lists them as being available.

their prices seem pretty reasonable too. still not quite a complete set but better than the stock skids.
