Hello,

Hello Forum. Its Calgary100. I just signed up. I live in downtown Calgary, Canada. I do not own Frontier yet (I still drive an old Taurus), however I am planning to get a 20-22 footer "ultralight" RV trailer with max wt around 3500-4000 pounds. As a tow vehicle I plan to buy a new Frontier SE Crew Cab, Short Box, v6, Auto, 4x4, SWB (short wheel Base) with total length ~ 206", Total Height 70".

This would be my only vehicle so this will replace my old Taurus and become my everyday city vehicle as well. This "short" (206") overall length is a must due to extremely tight downtown parking/backing requirements in the building where I live. The RV trailer will be parked in the outskirts of the city limits, in private RV parkade.

However, I have one concern in this plan. I heard that "short wheel base" (SWB) trucks are not that good for towing. In my specific case, I have no choice on total length. So if I put together this combination of truck and trailer, would there be any big problems in towing due to short wheel base Frontier I am planning to get? What kind of problems may arise in towing due to this SWB?

I would like to get some feedback from people who have experience in towing with Frontier SWB, esp something similar to what I am planning to do here - is there any fatal flaw in what I am planning to do here?

Thanks and Regards,

you should be all right if the trailer loaded is under 5k and your not towing all the time. If you start towing more often I highly recommend a full size or a diesel truck.
