upload the picture to this site. Some reason google doesn't like you sharing your photo's. There is no good or easy way to link a photo from your google account.

That is because they are your pictures. This is most likely a privacy issue. But even if you get the link from a picture in a shared folder it still usually doesn't show up. There is a way to modify the extension and ad "?.jpg" to make it viewable but it's a pain and again doesn't seem to always work.
