So I finally got my hands on my brothers old truck and had to do some minor work to get her running right again.

Last night I installed a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X998 head unit on it and I was quite impressed with the what the output was even with factory speakers..... well I tore those out and added 4 infinity reference 6.5" speakers and I'm loving the sound so much I cancelled my plans to add some subwoofers. Trying to do as little as possible, and this was perfect for what I needed.

Next up is the pesky tailgate handle fix.. easy enough to do and the parts already came in. Got a Bluetooth OBD2 reader as well that I'll use to check for codes. She's a low mileage truck and still looks great... plus you can't beat free (dad took it after my brother bought a new car, and he told me if I could fix it I can have it). Luckily backyard mechanic skills were enough!

Did you replace the wiring when you replaced the speakers or just replaced the speakers? I could use a little more cow bell.

I didn’t replace any of the wiring, but I did go ahead and “splurge” on $6-$7 wiring harness adapters because I was too lazy to solder on leads (not a fan of crimp-ons)
