I ordered a set of tires from them Sunday night, 265/75/16 Sentinels in Load range D. They came in this morning and look great. There is a lot of info, reviews and happy customers on thenewx site, plus I ran them before with great results. I will be going in tomorrow morning and have them mounted and balanced. Then Saturday morning I will be hitting the highway for a 100 mile plus road trip to the poconos for the weekend. They look great and they are heavy... Here are a few pictures, will take some once they are mounted.

They were $442 shipped to my door, but if you head over to thenewx, there is a little secret going on in the group buy section. I thought the choice of tire carcass was kind of funny considering it is a BFG tire with Bridgestone tread pattern. Before I ordered them I was looking to find a set of tires for a similar price locally but came up short. The only other tire that matched in price was the pepboys dakota AT. While I see the tire every where, I just wasn't impressed with its looks and I really don't like going to pepboys for service. Every shop i checked wanted $150 or more per tire. After mounting and balancing tomorrow I should be looking at around $130 per tire shipped, mounted and balanced. While the shipping is the killer part, I still managed to save atleast $80 total with these tires. I'm just hoping my mileage won't take a huge hit with these tires. Will find out saturday when I hit the highway. I was thinking the white letters in considering the tread doesn't match the sidewall, so it would be a little less obvious that they are retreads.

Got my tires are and they look good, white lettering is in. Guy at the shop was impressed with their looks. Seems to ride smoother, could be the larger sidewall.

Pics..

Since mounting them on Friday I got to put over 300 miles on them. Lots of highway, crappy mountain roads and some smooth pavement. They ride smooth, track straight and have a slight hum to them. Dry traction is good, can't comment on the wet traction yet. I still need to get an alignment done though. Overall, I'm satisfied with them. I averaged over 17.5 mpg with 50/50 highway and lots of full throttle mountain runs with the 93 octane superchips tune. It does seem to want to down shift sooner when going up a slight grade, but I did go up a size to a much heavier tire.

Since having the tires mounted, one of them has had a slow leak that I have not been able to find. I sent an email yesterday explaining this and they are sending me out a replacement tire in the same casing. These guys stand by their products! Their customer service is truly top notch. I don't believe I have yet to hear any negatives about their customer service. Because of this they will continue to get my business and anyone else I can recommend to them.

Concerning your slow leak . . . .
If it isn't on the bead or an obvious puncture elsewhere, make sure to have your tire shop check the TPMS (valve) stem.
That's where my slow leak was and was driving me nuts until I had the new tires put on and the "gaskets" replaced on the TPMS.
Apparently those seals/o-rings/gaskets (whatever you call them) can go bad over time and you'll get leaks eventually.

Todd, thanks for the info on the valve stem. I will look into it. It's just that it didn't start til right after my tires were mounted up which leads me to think it is the tire. But you never know. Yes, these tires are retreads. Many people will say not to run them because they are dangerous and whatnot. But they are quality tires built on quality casings by a company that stands behind their products 100%. I've thought about the fix a flat stuff but have heard bad things about it and don't want it as a permanent fix.

Fix a flat is just a patch for something that really needs to be fixed properly.
Personally I'd never use it unless it was my only option or last resort.
As far as messing up the TPMS that's a good question to which I do not have the answer.

Back to the o-ring on the TPMS, tire shops don't like to over tighten the sensors because they are fragile (and break easily) so sometimes you have leaks even with a good o-ring.
This is what I was told at the last tire shop I used.
Makes sense to me, but what a pain it must be to deal with for the tire guys.

I'm not going to get into a debate on if re-treads are safe or not but has anyone looked into why they are only used on the rear tires and trailer tires on big-rigs?

I am just going to say this. Make sure you check the tires for wear/tear every few k. If you feel any kind of "bump" or something odd when driving, it may be best to pull over and check. If you loose a tread while driving you are going to be in for a fun ride.

Also, I am not sure how local laws are but are re-treads used on the steering axle legal?

I can understand why many would not run these tires, I can appreciate the concerns and will heed your advice. I am being cautious with the tires constantly checking air pressures and checking the tread for anything odd. Other than a slow leak that will be fixed in a few days, there isn't any thing about these tires that is out of the ordinary. So far the tires are doing great for me. Wet traction is decent, the grip dry pavement well and they seem to handle as good or better than the stockers. I will keep this updated as I get more miles on them.
