I just installed a new single DIN stereo in my 2001 Crew Cab, 4x2, XE, 3.3L V6. naturally aspirated. The 4 ways don't work on the right side, and the power windows don't work. thankfully they are up. i didn't check either of my two issues before unplugging the old radio and installing the new one, so truthfully i'm not sure if the two issues are connected to the stereo install, and i don't see how they could be, but i know electrical wiring in vehicles doesn't always make intuitive sense to the layperson. A window relay was replaced by a local shop within the last couple of months because they weren't working then, before the radio install. Truthfully, I have no idea exactly when they quit working, I only realized they weren't working after doing the radio swap and my son driving off on an errand, and upon returning home he said the windows weren't working again. Any suggestions?

If you haven't downloaded a copy of the Nissan Factory Service Manual, you can download a free copy from any one of these three weblinks:

Usually the problem could be due to 1). a blown fuse, 2). A bad relay, or 3). A bad window control switch(s) - driver or passenger side. Seeing that your truck is over 21 years old, you're also going to have to check for old brittle wiring or bad ground points / bad ground wires.

I would suggest checking the pins on the plug that goes into the hazard switch near center/bottom of dash. I've heard of the pins getting bent, and causing strange issues, especially since you probably unplugged it to install the radio.

If you installed new door speakers with the stereo or pulled your door panels off for any reason, make sure you plugged the switches back in.
Well, it had just come out of the shop for the windows. They said they replaced a relay, not sure which one, researching that now. I don't know if I had said that a local shop fixed my windows in the OP or not. I'm just wondering if the windows not working is connected to the stereo replacement my son and I did. I don't see how, because literally the only wires we touched were stereo wires, but I'm trying to explore all possibilities.

downloaded the electrical manual just now. Looked it over quickly, and it is definitely outside of my wheelhouse, but I can't make the problem any worse, right? I know, famous last words. But at least it is solid trustworthy information that seems to be pretty thorough too.

Well, the hazard lights are only not working on one side of the truck. I'm not quite sure what to make of that, but I'll start with replacing the bulbs. The blinkers all work though, which run off the same bulb, so never mind, I guess that's not it. The button for the hazards is near the stereo, and I guess it's possible that we messed something up, but we were SOOOO careful and didn't touch any wires except the stereo wires.

I would just pull the center front dash piece off, pull the hazard plug out, and just confirm that all the pins look good, and that it's seated properly again.
