I just picked up my first truck last weekend, ended up getting a 2012 Nissan Frontier SL with just under 60k miles from a local dealer.

I took it on a cross state trip for a wedding and it rode like a dream. I got all the options, including the moonroof and tow package, and the dealer had just replaced the tires with some grabber 2 275/65/R18's that seem to be pretty awesome too. I am looking at adding a backup camera with a 4 inch pop-up lcd screen to help with the adjustment period, but it's not that much different then backing up my old Jeep Grand Cherokee (Size wise, steering is quite a bit different)

I had been looking at midsize trucks for the last few months, but no dealer was willing to go below $20,000 or so on anything (I was trying to stay over 2012 and under 80k miles, and most dealers wouldn't haggle on there prices AT ALL) but when I came across this one I was willing to go a little higher for all the upgraded stuff, I ended up around 21k out the door.

I haven't taken it up to camp yet but I'm hoping to soon. I'm from Maine, and it's currently -2 degrees outside so I'm holding off on the outdoor sports for now.

Excited to be in a truck finally. I've got some ideas for what I want to do to this already after going through these forums, so I may be asking for some help, or may try posting some writeups if I do anything worthwhile.::grin::

Welcome! Good looking truck. For the most part, these trucks are fun to work on. You'll find a plethora of great information on here.

Welcome to this forum! We are here to help you. I think you and I should start a sub-club for Frontier SL's. They seem rare as hen's teeth if you look around. Guess all the goodies push the price up past most peoples range. I love the moonroof!!!

You may be on to something, When I was looking this was the first real SL package I came across in the used lots. Everybody complains abut the dated interior but I took some 2010-12 Tacomas out and the interior in this 12 SL is worlds better imho. When I priced out a similar 2017 one it came in at about 36k, so maybe that's why you don't see many in the used market:p

The SL is the uber-luxury on-road version...while the P4x is the flagship of the Frontier line. JMO

But, boy-o-boy...the newest SL wheels I SOOO covet.

Wow that SL looks awesome (beefy) with the slightly over sized 275/65 tires on the 18" SL rims.
I would say you got excellent deal on the price, especially if the topper/camper shell came with it.
Thanks for posting pics on your first post !!!

I agree mine has all the bells and whistles! Love them and it still has 4X4. I thought the wheels on my 2014 SV were so nice but the 18 inch ones on the SL are SO sweet I am jazzed. Probably will be until I have to buy tires :frown:
