hello all, So today I noticed for the first time that my 09 Frontier makes a whine noise from 2-3500 rpm ONLY when the Ac is on. As soon as I turn it off the engine purrs like a kitten. I've had this truck for 6 years and its never given me any problems and I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Any input or experience is appreciated. Thanks!

Possibly the compressor is going bad.

If it was my compressor wouldnt it whine all the time and affect my a/c. It still blows ice cold and the noise only starts once it gets hot. Say by the time i make it to my job(23 miles) it will whine. But if I start it up and just go back qnd forth. Nothing.

Could it be one of the belts thats dried out and worn?

The clutch in the compressor can heat up and make noise. A new belt and tensioner can be the remedy.
Someone here just changed a belt and his noise issue went away.
