Welcome to the club from a fellow Tennessean!
Go ahead and start modding now. A mod can't void warranty unless it caused the problem.

Are you sure? I saw on Nissan's site a warning about their own in-house air intake mod and how it could possibly void the warranty. I know how dealers will try anything to escape paying the bill, so I want to be absolutely sure before I do anything.

100% positive. Due to the Federal Magnuusson-Moss Warranty Act, it is up to the dealer to provide proof that the mod caused the problem. Basically, if you add an after market intake and your door handle breaks they can't blame that on your intake. It can also help if you find a mod friendly dealer to go to for all your warranty work and this doesn't have to be the dealer you bought from.

Here's a quick read that explains it in very simple terms: Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act
That's obviously not an official government site but it explains it the easiest way possible. Know your rights, if you're ready to start modding go ahead and do it.
