Hello folks I am new to this forum and I need help! I broke a timing belt and yes the engine is destroyed so I got another engine but need some advise on the removal. Does the tranny have to come out with the engine and any tricks or tips.
Thanks Mike

On my old daily driver hotrod (71 chevy C-10), I have pulled the engine, then later had to pull the transmission. Honestly, If you have the shop space, I would pull the engine and transmission as a combination. Its much easier to get everything lined up and bolted together if you can move around the engine and transmission rather than trying to wedge yourself between the engine and firewall.
The otherside is, you will need to support the front of the transmission while its in the truck if you leave it. Your looking at a few more bolts and wiring connections.
Im just not a fan of laying on my back trying to work at arms length between the firewall and the transmission.
