Hey guys, i'm new, i'm interested in a used frontier (probably 2001-2002) and i just wanted some opinions about it as far as: handling, performance, reliability, durability, and off road ability. I have about 1500 for mods, but 500 will probably go towards an audio system and the other 1000 would probably be for shocks, an exhaust, and an intake, can anyone give me a recommendation as far as those 3 performance modifications? any help would be appreciated, thanks

Bilstein shocks: $240.
K&N drop in and remove the fender resonator.
Make sure the ribs on the K&N run the short pitch of the filter, not lengthwise, and that the air box clips back together. Some people have had a problem w/the filter being slightly too thick (me included).
Still speculating about the exhaust.

I'm running a S/C cc, 5 sp, and my fuel mileage is 14.7 mpg. 13.6 in the winter. Under 12 if I push it for a couple hundred miles down the hwy. If you're concerned about fuel mileage, stay away from the S/C.

The n/a versions get better mileage, but those guys are complaining, too.

If I were you I'd consider a 4cyl king cab. If you compare the hp/weight ratio you'll find that the 4cyl will run with the best of them.
