Hello everyone,

Recently purchased a 2002 Frontier XE-V6 automatic after searching and searching for a truck in good condition. I found this '02 with 86,xxx miles, the interior and body are flawless (other than a tiny ding in the tailgate, which I'm not too concerned about). Everything about the truck seems to be great other than the gas mileage. The truck is killing me on fuel and I'm not really too sure what to do about it. I've previously owned a handful of sentras, many of them turbo which even got better gas mileage than the truck.

So one of my goals here is to seach around and see if anyone else has the same issues as me. Everything is stock other than the 265/70/15 Mastercraft Courser A/T, which is most likely a major contribution to the poor mpg. The tires were on the truck when I bought it and they have roughly 500 miles on them. Does anyone know anything about these tires, are they heavy, not needed on a 2wd, promote a lot of drag, etc. I'm open for all and any opinions. When I'm doing 70mph on the highway and take my foot off the gas, the truck slows down quickly as if a brake is partially engaged. I get about ~275 miles to a tank.

Anyways, here's a few pics.

I live in Cocoa, if your in Melbourne I'm only a short distace from you. Man, my brother gets better than 15 mpg in his V8 quad cab Ram 1500...
Yup. This is the main complaint for new 1st gen owners. To make it even worse, your brother has ~2x the power too, lol.

The only thing you can really do is an intake/exhaust to help it breathe. Then do the plugs, wires and cap/rotor.

If you want, you may be able to do gears to help make-up for the tire size/weight but that may be more then what you want to do.

Well, the good news for you is that there is a for sale section on this forum so if you are going to sell, you can post it up there to see if anyone is interested. Past that you are left with CraigsList or ebay or etc....

I have to ask thou, did you do any research before buying your Frontier on its gas mileage?
